GRIZ DE's Need to Develop a Pass Rush, FAST !!!

I can only offer up tackling you between narrow "cones", like along the bar at the Mo Club, where I could come up and knock the heck out of you. No pads. You'd have to sign an injury release. Haven't played even touch football for decades.

Well, there it is. PR is scared to put it all on the line in an actual football game against granitegriz. I guess my grand vision of a one-on-one game, held under the lights at the Drummond High football field (the sweet one just North of I-90) isn't to be. Sad!

Montana is tied (with Davis, ironically) for 2nd best in the Big Sky in sacks with 19. Only Weber State has more, they have 21.

Montana has the T-2nd (Olson with 5), and T-4th (Buss with 4.5) and T-15th (Lewis with 2.5) on the conference tops list for sacks.

See a trend? This defense is designed for the LBs to develop the pass rush.

I've had a theory that Bobby's wanted this defense to mimic what he saw at San Diego State. So I checked their stats to see who, on that team, lead in sacks and TFLs.

- This year it's pretty spread out, their sack leader has just 3, and he's a linebacker.

- Their TOP 5 leaders in TFLs... all linebackers.

- While a little tougher to quickly decipher it would appear that last year their top 4 players with sack totals were 3 linebackers and 1 D-lineman.

Good research, Brint. Thanks. But we want our sacks to come from d-ends. Did you ask Baer about that yesterday?

If this is what you want, I can get a surrogate. I talked to Chase R. yesterday, but forgot to ask if he would do me this favor. He would know how to get to this venue.

I think a one-on-one football game between Chase Reynolds and granitegriz is far less compelling than the original proposition. Regardless, you should definitely run it by Chase, and if granitegriz is into it, we'll try to throw something together...

If the combatants agree, perhaps we could have an under card battle between the UM robot tackle dummy and a lucky fan in attendance. There would of course be a raffle to decide who and Mr. T would of course hold on to all money earned.

I am not signing injury releases to play football. You know for one that negligence waivers are generally not valid in Montana. I will be there watching the Titans play on Saturday PR!

 I should have but he wasn't too chatty

Now hold on! Who says Mr T can be trusted with the vig? I’ll be trying place a parlay on the outcome (and the length of PR’s out-of-consciousness), and T will be stuffing a bunch of cases of newly purchased moose drool in his trunk and heading back to Missoula. Maybe Peyton should hold the money.

Interesting suggestion, BG. I could be wrong but I believe the reason that Mr. T is traditionally chosen as the money holder is to avoid the risk of a woman manipulating the money away from one of us. Given his relative hot streak of having sex 1 2/3 times this past summer, we might want to revisit this.

Good work Ursa. I heard nothing about that alleged (and somewhat disturbing) liaison. You just never know any more...

Not sure that's a possible with 3 down lineman. A two gapping 4 man front, yah, but in any 3 man front you are not going to get much pressure from the DLine. 3-4, and in our case a 3-5-5, is all about keeping the LBs clean and letting them make the plays.

My post was meant as a joke, in several ways. I agree with you completely. And you articulated this way better than I would have. Thx.
