Griz Commit Eli Gilman is Player of the Year

Sweet, glad he chose UM. I assume he's not the Minnesota POTY otherwise it would've been stated as such or All-State POTY. So, what area does this all-area team encompass? A certain region or conference or county or city, maybe? I'm genuinely curious and not trying to take anything away from this recognition.

Don't know what league this is player of the year but see they are a AAA school in the quarterfinals where Eli has had 3 touchdowns and his team leads 41-13 with a few minutes left in the game

In his section, 8 in the state. Goes from 9 man to 6A. 7 classes, they are in the smaller size half of schools at 3A. Max Preps has them rated at #7 overall in the state. Which is impressive because his school is probably the size of Hamilton High and some of the big suburban schools have over 2000 students.

And the hits just keep on coming now he is a finalist for player of the year in Minnesota

I haven't been this stoked for an incoming Freshman RB since Chase. Dude is going to light it up ... :thumb:

Chase who?

Reynolds was recruited as a WR.

And only displaced Andrew Schmidt as the #1 RB midway through his soph season.

Can't recall the last time we had a player from Minnesota. Anyone?

Can't help with recent eras. But I believe that Ebi Dobson (spelling?) was from MN. 85-89 range... kicker/punter. Floormate in Dunniway.

Terry Dillon was from MN.

You must be aware of what he did in high school at Drummond, but just in case here’s a link for your edification:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chase_Reynolds

And since he was “one of the most prolific running backs in the state of Montana,” it was and is reasonable to believe he was recruited for that skill/position. He may have been “recruited as a WR,” but everyone knew (I guess with one or two exceptions) what he was about. And he did the same thing in Missoula that he did in Drummond— kick ass at the RB position.

You’re splitting hairs on this but you do you

Go Griz

You all know that I am as big a griz hater as there is.

Brock Frisbee from Lambert is a close friend of my son, Brock blew his knee out 2 yards before breaking Chase Reynolds HS rushing record. During a playoff game they decided to let him go out for one play and the opposing coach was in agreement to let him make the needed yardage. The night before the the game Chase messaged him congratulating him on being able to break the record the following day. I hated Chase playing for you guys, but respected his abilities and think he is a good guy.
