GRIZ/Cats

Grizatwork, of course, what you said about Martin was not a personal attack. It was just inaccurate. To me, taking someone off the dribble means that the dribbler scores, or at least dishes for an easy bucket. Again, Durham scored only 1 bucket in the first half, and it was a jumper, not a lay in.

Taylor's 3's did not come when Martin was guarding him. So, again, please don't insinuate that he was.

My family and I know and like Matt, and we watch him carefully. Obviously, some of the rest of you don't. I also looked at the play-by-play stats fairly carefully last night, when I was coming up with the info on my post.

No big deal, but I don't like it when posters say patently inaccurate things. Sometimes, I will point those out.

If you read my last post you would see that I said that Taylor's threes came when the griz were playing zone. I don't actually recall Martin playing defense against Taylor when they were man to man.

What I remember in the first half was Casey getting into the middle of the paint on the drive and it affecting our team defense and ability to block out on missed field goals.

I have nothing against Matt Martin. Like I said, he shows tremendous flashes of brilliance and then does some things that make you go WTF. I think that comes from his personality. He is obviously a confident player. He has a true shooters mentality in that he has a short memory about his last miss. This came in very handy last night. That extreme confidence can lead to some bad decisions. It is a double edge sword. I truly believe his shooting in the second half was responsible for stomping out at least two cat rallies. Unfortunately I believe(my opinion) that he is out quicked by some point guards when he is on defense.

Incredible game for Sharp-y!. If we could play Sharp on offense and Kvale on defense, we'd be in business. Kvale's offense and rebounding is abyssmal and Sharp showed what he can offer tonight in a big way. At the end of the game, Tinks was subbing in Martin for offense and Sharp for defense. We might start seeing more in this regard with Kvale and Sharp. Martin and Sharp on Offense, Rundles and Kvale on defense. We have some options and that is great.

Rundles on defense? It is better than his offense, but I would still rather have any of the other guards on the floor when it comes to defense. Rundles completely loses track of his man too much.

I agree, Rundles has been inconsistant, but he played great defense against DeLeon of EWU when he was in there. You can't convince me that he isn't a better defender than Martin, but we've been over this before.
