GRIZ / cat - Let's do this!

We're dancing! WAY TO GO LADY GRIZ!!!

Gotta give congrats to the lady bobcats too, they've really turned their program around and really battled to get here.

When is Silvig going to get some Media attention??? At the end of last year, he was 6th in career winning percentage and I believe 5th in career victories among womens coaches...

The Altitude announcers spoke to this issue. They said that Selvig and every assistant coach on his staff has had multiple opportunities to move to other/bigger schools and programs. Selvig made the decision to stay here and make a successful program, instead of making UM a training ground for brighter lights.

Hats off.

Selvig is a Montana god. He should get a ton more attention and respect nationally. And I think he does within the coaching profession. I think he's extremely well-thought of. But outside of Duke, UNC, Tennessee, UConn no woman's team gets much exposure.

But I would argue Robin doesn't even get enough attention and acolades within the state of Montana. Can you imagine what status he'd have if he had this many conference champions for a men's team? What he has done is absolutely freakin' remarkable.

Incidentally, what do you suppose he does with all of those little BSC conference trophies he's gotten over the years? Knowing Robin, they're probably in the garage, collecting dust.

Yeah, I dont think Selvig has a trophy room in his house... He seems way too laid back to even care about personal accolades...

It's that Northeastern Montana upbringing. We're all like that. :thumb: In all honesty, all the Selvigs are like that. Good, down to earth, peeps.

MM is all that and a bag o doritos... but I gotta give it up for Laura Cote. When the LG surged from 10 points to 22... 9 of those came by way of 3 Cote 3's.

If the LG play like this in the big tourney they may be able to off set their lack of comparable speed that is one thing, IMO, that has kept them from progressing further in the big show in the past.

Yes, but if they start off slow like they did against the Cats, against a quicker team the Lady Griz could find them further behind then 11 - 3 in the same amount of time that the Cat's built that lead. I just hope that the Lady Griz could handle the nerves going into the game. Having that game in 2004 in Missoula really helped calm the nerves early on in the game because of the home crowd. Certainly won't have the home crowd advantage to help raise the adrenaline a bit on a neutral court.

I don't think nerves will be that big an issue for this team. Obviously Robin has been there before, adn while most of the girls haven't, they are an experienced bunch.

Maybe not, but there is another difference between 2004 and this year. This year, Lady Griz didn't play any team in the top 25 at the time they played them and/or finished the season in top 25.

In 2004, Lady Griz played Texas. Got blown out, but having played a real athletic and quick team like Texas, helped with preparing for the quickness and athleticism of La. Tech whom Lady Griz lost by only 4 points. So, if Lady Griz are matched up with a really quick, speedy and physical team, could be a problem when they haven't seen or prepared for a team like that. The 2004 team did face a team like that and it helped them.
