I am already having GRIZ football and basketball withdrawals. I hate April to late August for GRIZ Athletics. :thumb:

Hey, don't the Griz have women's softball next year? Something to plog for when the time comes.
 
I think the spring letter of intent signing period for basketball is April 16 - May 21. That should hold some interest.
 
totally agree with griz1 and tarheel. the recruiting period should be one of intense interest. the next five signings--two now, three this fall--will be critical. do we get another cherry, jamar or dunn? that there are no rumors, gossip, smoke, innuendo or even outright fabrications is disturbing. I'd even go for "i heard from the gal at 7-11 whose brother works at taco bell that he overhead a conversation..."

one worry: cherry, jamar, dunn, selvig and qvale were all early commits. when we get down to the spring period, it seems we're really picking through the scrapheap.

I have a feeling we will see another transfer and a JC player for late signings. I am sure one will be a post player. As for the other, I hear Wayne is pretty committed to finding another versatile swing player similar to Jamar. That will be a pretty hard to find player for the late signing period. If Wayne can find a player even close to Jamar's talent in the late period, then that will help Wayne's resume and program even further. We do have one selling point for solid or better post players that would work in our advantage. Recruit" "It is important to me to play right away." Montana Coach, while pulling out a video and stat sheet, "Here are the heights, stats, and video of our post production the past 2 years." Now tell me, "What do you think your chances of playing time are? We need help and we need depth!"

I wish I can say I am being a smart ass. However, 2 years running our post play has been a huge weakness. Breunig alone will be an upgrade. Beyond that we are relying on Kemp to find consistency and realize his vast potential. Also, Andy Martin is at a make or break point in his college career. We have seen brief flashes of him having the potential to be a very solid post player in the conference, and defensive difference maker. Offensively and rebounding I believe he is capable of improving, the questions are "How much time does he want to weight training and working on his offense? How much does he want to make an impact?" Nobody knows those answers but Andy. I am pulling for him though. I think highly of him and his family from a personal level. Since meeting his family, it is impossible to not pull for Andy.

For the sake of the program, I pray we find 1 ready to play post player in the late period. One who will make the team better in rebounding, post scoring, and defending the paint. At this time next year, I don't want EGRIZZERS being disappointed in our post play for a 3rd straight season, and still searching for post recruits.

Coaches, we are praying and hoping for a recruiting bonanza in this late recruiting period. :thumb:
 
Still no real message. I again just wanted to get a thread about the Griz -- ideally not one from the Tip of a Troll (if you get my drift) -- on the board.
