To hell with the "big boosters"!

You're naive............... You know something we don't other than speculation. If someting is "swept under the rug" as you say Plu and Oday will need criminal lawers not employment lawers. Besides if the U of M Foundation sends an e-mails to Boosters things are significant. By the way the folks I'm talking about are very deeply rooted in universities around the country. They just want to know what just happened so calm down homey!

It's been reported in the past that an assistant coach knew of the gang rape allegations and that the Missoula Police Department sat down with Pflugrad to tell him the whole disgusting story. These allegations were so heinous that there should have been no question for Pflugrad whether the players alleged to be involved were the type of student athletes Pflugrad wanted on his team. It has not been reported what Pflugrad did with that disturbing information and I have been unable to find out if anything was done to the players allegedly involved. Engstrom has skirted around it and any supporters of the Montana program that may know what Pflugrad did or didn't do aren't saying. I think mess will continue until that information is made public by either the school, the authorities , the NCAA or an attorney for the alleged victim.
Find out the names, and then find out when they were no longer on the roster. That may tell you something you were looking for.

Exactly, Edwards is nothing but a blowhard who most of the time doesn't know his ass from his elbow.
Obviously... as proven by his 8-figure bank account.

Had to laugh. I am the target of such comments on this board. Funny how such dumb-asses can make so much money, huh?
By screwing other people, he's a lawyer

You DO have a point!

Does anyone realize that Pflu's comments to the press regarding Jordan Johnson were wrong? As soon as I read those I thought the writing was on the wall for Plfu's future. All the work Missoula has done to say sexual assualt is not okay and Pflu turns around and praises Johnson's morale character while there is an ongoing rape investigation. I don't know if Johnson is guilty, I don't believe in trying someone in the Missoulian or on egriz, however I do understand that comments like Pflu's the leader of Griz Nation basically called the alleged victim a liar to all the world. Not smart for someone in his position and a PR nightmare.

I ran into a former Griz football player at my gym today. He was a starting player last season, recently graduated. As we were discussing the firing of Pflu and O'Day, he stated that he really liked both men, but after he read what Pflu had said about Jordy Johnson's great character, he knew that this would blow-up on Pflu. He also expressed the feeling that there was a double standard on the Griz team, with subs or frosh players being quickly dismissed after problems, while great lengths were taken with starters and key players to keep them on the field. This does not come from me, but from a former player.

I posted before that I was a foreman of a jury in a case in Billings that Cliff and Paoli sued an insurance company for an elderly gal from Baker. Sum bitch if I'd want that man sitting at the other table if I was getting sued. The boy is good... REAL good.

Good to hear. Make em pay till Engstrom is run outta town as well.

TG, out of curiosity, why are you so extreme on this one? Pretty unlike you to go extreme before knowing all the details. I have been told, if Engstrom were to say much more than he did, or get to more specifics too early, U of M would have a much larger settlement to address. Also, my uncle pointed out to me, with all the legal trouble a few players are going through right now, prosecution, and defending lawyers are building cases, and saying much more could have jeopardized some legal court proceedings. My uncle would not be surprised he had to protect the best interest of the U of M due to pending criminal cases against player(s), and possible civil cases as a result of what transpired.

He, and a few others, feel the U of M will reveal more details, depending on the outcome of cases, and court proceedings. Rest assured, any and every thing said by anyone tied the university only be after legal counsel. This could take a few years before the public knows everything the school, and individuals choose to divulge.

I admit, I was pissed hearing O'day had been let go. I consider him a friend. I am just praying something better comes along for him, and GRIZ athletics get through this in a better position than before . Honestly, how long has the public, locally, regionally, and nationally been questioning, when will something be done? Will the U of M ever make a standt, with impact, against the criminal element that crept into this program through a few coaches.

Like Dave Dickenson looks at it, at the professional level, you can cut players. At the collegiate level, it is not so easy, and someone has to be held accountable. Granted, Engstrom took a a few steps back in my mind over the recent few months, but he did inherit a football program heading in the wrong direction, off the field. As for the student that managed to get off campus and get back home, I agree, it is bad the guy got away with whatever he did, without facing the music. However, the asshole is far away form Missoula now, and will never harm another woman there again. He will face the music, whenever, and where ever he is caught. One strike against a president that inherited what he did, does not deserve losing his job. At least not at this stage, when the general public does not, and may not know all the details for quite some time.

As for me, I am relieved the GRIZ are back on another road, even if we have some construction delays to work around. Just as I have learned to do with our athletes, I am giving Engstrom the benefit of the doubt on this as well. Fair is Fair.

why? i can think of countless people that i know personally as well as celebrities that have a shit-ton of money and they are idiots. that is what is so funny when people bring up how much money they have. i know some very awesome people here in bozeman that are loaded. i also know a couple of complete asses....also loaded.

money is great. i do just fine but i'd take more. but it's about .005% of what makes me...me. :thumb:
That part's fine; it's the other 99.995% that sucks so bad.

I wouldn't worry about the booster money though.(Well maybe from Billings I don't think he has anymore up and coming football players or future law students - not that the last one couldn't have done it on his own) Generally with a new AD the old circle cant't pull out their checbooks fast enough to make sure they keep their "access" and bunch of others do the same hoping this is their chance to get it. Heck this could be a real bonanza. . . . .

That was a problem that the UM Administration brought to some extent on itself; that is, bringing male students here whose culture holds that the rape victim is the one that is punished.

It's our idea of promoting diversity that students inculcated in such abuse are brought here on purpose, with that attitude, and UM does not in fact monitor their private behavior more closely, KNOWING that there is a level of cultural acceptance of rape of women, and particularly non-Muslim women.

But, that would be "profiling" if done with Saudi students, so UM doesn't do it. There is no "plan" in place to monitor known behavior of an identifiable risk group. That would be "insulting."

On the other hand, it is a duty of the coach to do the same thing for kids playing sports at UM who come from a culture where rape is considered a crime, not a privilege. Yeah, OK. Chalk another one up for the UM Administration's consistency.
