good job by portland state. they stayed poised and did what it took to get the upset. the griz looked to have significantly better athletes at most positions, but psu out-executed them, and didn't give up when the momentum swung with the early second half fumble. it of course helped that the griz didn't seem to know what they were doing half the time on both offense and defense, but to come into missoula and win a game is not easy for any team, given all the advantages the griz have in terms of stadium, noise, etc...

anyway, i haven't really read much praise of psu on here, but they deserve it.

Yep. Started to type a congrats thread last night but I just.... wasn't....ready.

They were fired up from the first turnover and stayed with it the whole game.

They deserved to win as much as we deserved to lose.

PSU came in with a better gameplan and executed better. Probably the best game they have played in some time. Congrats.

From a Portland State fan...Thank you for the praise and the kind words. Very few people could have predicted this outcome. Myself, I actually was prepared to alternate between this game and the Rocky/Southern Oregon game (RMC being my alma mater), however I stayed on this game after the blocked punt. I said it on both AGS and CS.com, even good teams seem to find a way to lose when they play in Missoula, so I was waiting for PSU to lose it, like we usually do. Similar to when we beat Washington State a few years back, I can honestly say I'm glad we don't have to play this game over.

Montana Grizzlies are a classy bunch top to bottom, from the players to the coaches, and especially the fans. Truly a great group. We'll see you all the next time we play. :thumb:

Except for the players who went over and taunted the remaining north end zone fans.
I mean, I get it. I was right there at the end as several of them came to the NEZ specifically to give it back, and it absolutely sucked for us. I’m impressed by the composure a lot of the fans had: no flipping birds, no bad remarks, etc.

But I honestly don’t blame those kids at all. “Act like you’ve been there before” is all well and good, but these kids haven’t won a meaningful game in nearly three years, and this likely was and will be the biggest win of these kids’ careers at PSU.

By the way, they were all at least respectful in their crowing, high-fiving young kids and refraining from doing anything profane, at least that I saw.

And literally nobody gave them a chance.

They completely earned the right to throw it back at us.
