Good, Bad, Ugly - TSU

Good:
- carve an image of Bergen into the mountains above Griz stadium. My goodness what he has done to almost singe handedly win games is historical. Ties the FCS record for punt returns at 8. Is one off from the all time NCAA record of 9 from Pettis. Taking 2 back in one game is almost unbelievable and he’s done it twice now, both in playoffs
- got our run game going after looking pretty bad in the first quarter. And it all started with an absolute spark plug in Fonoti, our future RB star. He came in and ripped off several big runs. Kudos to the coaches for making adjustments and kicking out the crashing ends to open up lanes. Fonoti had 8 Carrie’s for 46 averaging almost 6 ypc
- then it seemed to me like it woke up Gillman. The slower, hesitant Gillman we’ve seen for 5-6 games reverted back to the early season beast mode RB who wouldn’t be denied. Gets his 1000 yards for the season and 2000 for career and already moves into 5th all time for TDs in Griz history. He ends up with 136 on 20 carries for a 6.8 ypc and 2 TDs. The run he had the seal the win was something to behold….patience, power, speed, and determination
- Riley Wilson went off on defense….3.5 TFL and 2 sacks and all kinds of pressures. He is one of the best LBs I’ve seen in a Griz uniform and that is saying something
- really good too see Grossman get more involved in the offense with 3 catches, one for a big first down
- Ty Morrison was 4/5 on FGs and scored 15 points and had that 50 yarder before half
- Xavier Harris had a couple good KO returns and averaged 30 yards per return
- Racanelli had some nice grabs and I love how he blocks on the edge. So glad he will be back
- the defense overall looked pretty great. They were put into some tough situations with short fields but to give up negative rushing yards is a feat in and of itself
- great to see some new faces impact the game….Geno Leonard played well and has a high motor (been hurt all year), Mason from Washington made some plays, Bridges the freshman WR gonna be special, Fonoti is gonna be absolutely incredible here
- the 12k who showed up were loud and proud and disrupted the game for TSU….5 or 6 false starts and some bad snaps

Bad:
- the QB play was not good, and the two fumbles by Fife were very costly….led to 10 points and kept TSU hanging around
- can’t have 3 TOs and win many games, we were fortunate
- can’t fumble inside the 5 yard line when trying to end the game

Ugly:
- trying to get away with another pooch kick that let TSU get to the 10 yard line. Your D was playing great, just kick the damn ball and play defense.
- gnashing TSU in the run game for the whole 2nd quarter to then get away from it and start doing QB runs and more passing behind the the sticks. Stick with what is working until it’s not!

Please feel free to add…

Good - open holes for the running backs....classiness of Coach George in the after game presser....Bergen, Bergen, Bergen....Gillman, Gillman
Bad - EPSN2 showing so many friggin' commercials in the game before that it could not connect to the Griz game until 9:32 left in the first quarter....turnovers...overpursuing on defense
Ugly - ball control by Fife...chippiness by both teams that could have resulted in a PI

ONe question, when TSU scored a TD they tried to throw the ball into the stands and it hit one of the pads and bounced back to him...i thought that this was supposed to be a personal penalty in college

Bad - Refs calling Bridges catch incomplete. He gained possession and the ball moved a little bit after he hit the ground but, the ball didn't even touch the ground when it got a little lose. That was a catch all day. I've seen worse "catches" called a catch plenty of times. I don't think the video evidence was conclusive.

The worst - not getting the passing game rolling. It seems our receiving core has had a pretty hard time getting any separation the last few years. That may change with Bridges, dudes gonna be a baller.

Good: Sawyer Racanelli-good catches, fights for the ball, plays hard away from the ball, great blocking downfield especially on Gillman's final big run...
Better: Post game presser by both the coaches...
Best: Junior!!!!!
Bad: Not getting to see Nick Ostmo one more time
Ugly: Letting TSU back in the game with costly turnovers... especially cringe worthy inside the red zone.

Agree about coach Eddie George. I was so impressed with him and his team. I loved their fight. They didn't back down, were talking tons of shit and up in our guys faces and than at the end of the game it was all hugs and love between the two teams. Classy and competitive group of young men and that is a direct reflection of their coach. Loved Eddie George as a player and now I can say I'm a huge fan of his as a coach.

Good post Hooked. Hard for me to add to anything more on the "good" side but it was certainly good to see Grossman getting more involved and he led the team with 3 catches, which leads me to....

Bad...that our leading receiver had 3 catches. Where has the pass offense gone? Bergen with 1 catch is criminal (not sure how many targets he had).

Ugly...tackling. Ufda. The amount of over-pursuits, getting juked out of their cleats, or just missed tackles in general is definitely ugly.
