Montana senior guard Matt Martin has the conscience of a shooter - the next one is always going in, no matter how many tries it takes. It's that same belief in himself and competitive nature that make him a dangerous opponent, a valuable teammate and alternately a pleasure and a challenge to coach.

“We used to have a saying around here that the same stuff that will make you laugh will make you cry,” Montana men's basketball coach Wayne Tinkle said.

Sounds like PlayerRep and Bozgriz having a discussion about Martin

That is a great article, and even more accurate article of Matt Martin on and off the court. As someone who has watched and worked with Matt at GRIZ camps, I hope he indeed does pursue coaching, he will be a dynamic coach. :thumb:

On the court, Matt's fiesty and hardnosed attitude is something I hope many young players take from him. It is that attitude that made him my nephews' favorite athlete in any sport. It was Matt's 5 minutes talking with my nephews that convinced them to do well in school and work hard in athletics. As a proud uncle, I can honestly say Matt Martin made a huge difference in the lifes of 2 kids. At the time nobody knew it, but that 5 minutes from him was all it took. Amazing enough, it was Matt being Matt and nothing more. :thumb:

Thanks for 4 great years Matt. This GRIZ fan will always be pulling for you on and off the court. :thumb:

I've sometimes been critical of Martin's play here on the board. My critiques have basically been the same as those you see in the article. But I've got to admire the guy's spunk. He wants to be a coach, and it sounds like he might have the qualities to be a good one. But he also sounds like one of those people who could excel at running a business, if he ever decided to do that. Whatever he does, good luck to him. I'm sure he'll be a credit to UM.

I hope we're all laughing tomorrow night! Take good shots Matt and Go Griz!! :thumb:
