Gonzaga vs. UNC @ Madison Square Garden!!!

Can't wait until Tuesday night. The Zags will face off against the #2 ranked, and very talented, Tar Heels.

This is going to be an awesome game. I feel like this is really going to show us how good, or bad, the Zags are this year. They have looked very good early in the season. They are playing as a team and show some great chemistry already. They manhandled Eastern (poor Stucky) and Rice already this year. Even with three very good players out (Gurganious, Downs, Burgess) they are already looking like a great competitive team that could do something in the tournament. I am so excited about their chances this year and this game will be a perfect measuring stick to see how good they could be this year. I hope they play the Heels tough, but who knows, maybe I'm just biased cuz they are my favorite team.

BTW: Downs is a 6'8" guard and a five star McDonalds All American that went to Kansas but decided to move back closer to home. He average 24.8 ppg and 12.2 rpg in high school.
Gurganious was a fantastic freshman that played a lot of minutes last year and shows a lot of promise.
Burgess is a 6'10" 270 pound big man that was highly recruited out of high school he transferred to Gonzaga after one year at BYU. Some of the teams that recruited him out of high school were UCLA, Florida, BYU, Louisville, Utah, Oregon, Oregon State. So hopefully he will be another go to guy inside.
He averaged 19 ppg and 13 rpg in high school.

If you tune in on Tuesday, you will be waiting for a long time. The GU-UNC game is on Wednesday. It should be a good one. I'll be watching.

Downs played his sophomore year in Butte, most of us who follow MT high school basketball know all about him. He was actually about to come to Hellgate when McGillis, Cox, Morris and company were all there. Probably would have been one of the best high school teams in the nation if that were the case.

I have some bad news for Lou.

Downs has a broken bone in his foot. He had surgery today and is out for 10 weeks.

Gurganious has a cracked vertebra. He may not play in a while.

Burgess has a torn MCL. His return date is unknown.

Yeah that sucks about Downs. He is a hell of an athlete from the sounds of it. As far as Gurganious, he will be back in about four weeks or so. I got some inside info on that injury. I hadn't heard about Burgess, thanks for the info.

I think I may have been the third person to know about gurganious and the second person to know about downs.....but I haven't heard anything about burgess. Lou, any chance your inside info is the same as mine?

I bet Lou knows BobZag.

After the Zags finally got a hoop to go down, they looked more like the #2 than NC did. That big kid for NC won't need a razor for a couple more years and it showed, he was soft.

Raivio needs to understand his role a little better. He was trying to make things happen, instead of letting the game come to him Few did a great job pulling him, while Asst Coach Grier settled him down. :twocents:

The staff Gonzaga has is easily one of the top five in college basketball.

I agree, Few is the best Coach Gonzaga has ever had, his record is proof.
