Glendive product Selvig signs pro basketball contract
Former Glendive standout and University of Montana product Derek Selvig has signed a contract to play basketball with the Oettinger Rockets in Germany’s Pro A league.
The 7-foot, 230-pound Selvig signed with the Rockets on July 16.
Selvig averaged 9.1 points 6.1 rebounds and hit 44 percent of his 3-pointers last season at UM, helping the Grizzlies to both the Big Sky Conference’s regular-season and tournament championships and a berth in the NCAA tournament.
At Dawson County High School in Glendive, Selvig led the Red Devils to back-to-back Eastern A divisional crowns in his junior or senior years. He averaged 21.1 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots as a senior.
