Giving Wayne his due

I have been very critical of Tink's coaching in the past, especially his first two years here. I will admit that he has shown me tremendous growth, both in his team defense, and in his game-time decisions. I did not think he had it in him, but will admit that I was wrong. I think hiring the former Southern Utah head coach to run the defense was a great move! Now, if Wayne will just install some decent in-bounds plays, and teach his kids to defend opponents in-bounds plays, he will elevate himself even more in my eyes!

I come from a family of coaches. Even coached a bit myself.

Last night I was critical of Coach Tinkle. One of my uncles, who was a coach once told me, the refs won't adjust to you, so you better adjust to the refs.

In the first half, the refs were letting Weber guards throw the forearm and the shoulder and get to the basket. I was screaming at the tv screen. Wayne, why don't you have Cherry do the same!

Well Tinkle did adjust.

So hey. I was wrong about Tinkle, and admit it.

I liked that half court trap wrinkle that really changed the game.

Go Griz.

I have to agree Wayne has grown as a coach and is doing a good job. He is also a good guy and great ambassador for the UM program.

I have thought Tinkle was good all along. Welcome aboard to the latecomers but stay out of the way of the guys were there all along. Haha.
