Gavin Robertson

I think Gavin might be too slow to play safety. He seems to be a "tweener", as the Arizona coaches thought. They asked him to play LB. Gavin transferred to play safety, which would give him a shot at an NFL career if he were to shine at this position here at Montana. He is an impressive physical specimen, but we have seen this type of athlete before as a DB, with the other Arizona transfer who had an Adonis-like physique, but was just not a good football player. I want to see more of Gavin before writing him off as a stud safety, but it seems like he is off the field more each quarter we play.

After a lot of hype when he transferred in, I have not seen much from Gavin on the field other than one big hit I remember. And, he seems to be getting less playing time than he was early. Any comments?

Good post. I was thinking the same thing watching the game against Drake, then he had a couple tackles fairly close together so thought maybe I was imagining it. Also, perhaps with the LB play, they just aren't getting as many "stats" that we see.
Generally, you are playing good defense when the safties are not noticed.

He's good-enough, but nothing spectacular. He's good for 1 really impressive lay-out hit per game (which gets some ppl excited), but I prefer a steady in-on-every-tackle guy and that's not him
And this you can conclude from two games. You must have played the game. He is #1 on the depth chart for a reason. In spite of your prowess, this staff knows safety play.

Don't expect much from 4theluvofgriz. The other guy he is bad mouthing in this post is Yamen Sanders who went on to have a try-out with the Oakland Raiders, so he's obviously a terrific judge of talent.

Two things this poster is good at is implying that other posters have female body parts (he's never seen female parts but boy he's heard some stories) or that other posters are gay. He has forgotten to flip his calendar over from 1965 and doesn't get that calling someone gay isn't an insult anymore.

I thought Adonis-like physique was an interesting choice of descriptor.

Yes, exactly. I guess I was just used to a bit more safety tackles recently!

Two of our top three tacklers this year through two games are safeties. :|

If he is so good, why is he on the bench more than the other starting safeties?

And he's got a lot of moves too...... he just uses them all at the same time.
