Hotels would offer discount packages for fans to earn their business.
Huh? Have you checked Missoula hotel prices on game weekends irrespective of gametime? Roughlyt 50% premiums with many requiring a two night stay. Don't hold your breath on any discount packages, particularly if the demand goes up further.

Competition in the free market place is what makes our country great. I believe that if there were more night games, the hotels would reap the benefits and offer special deals to ensure they fill there rooms in the off-season. Unlike the one night per every other year, Cat/Griz where they rip the guests off, with no discounts etc..... If certain hotels/motels did not offer special incentives, they would always be the ones to fill last.

You're not getting it. Missoula hotel rooms are full now for game weekends. Try getting a last minute room without a reservation. All game weekends carry a stiff premium; homecoming and Griz/Cat carry two night minimums. I book mine as soon as the schedules come out - nearly a year in advance and still occasionally find a booked weekend. Furtther increasing demand will drive up the premiums, not offer discounts - Econ 101.

Night games would hurt hotels. Fewer people would come to town of Friday because they have time to drive on Saturday. So the hotel demand would be lower on Friday. To offset the loss of business on Friday the hotels in highest demand would require a Friday night stay in order to book a room for Saturday.

It wouldn't deter me very much for night games. Its 346.5 miles from my driveway to Wa-Griz so we end up getting a room anyways, usually in Butte then after the game we drive back to Billings. This just means that we would need a room after the game instead of before. So this doesn't effect us at all. I wouldn't mind seeing more night games. But honestly it doesn't really make difference, as long as they Win.

Well then, if the hotels are doing that good, why is this even a topic of discussion for night games? If the hotels are doing great, then restuarants and bars must also be doing great. Having fans in town longer can only improve business. If fans want to leave town after the game instead of stay in hotels, sounds like missoula hotel owners don't care, they are full anyways. Or maybe, just maybe because there are night games, hotels would offer discounts so fans would come on friday and stay both nights instead of coming sat morn. Seems like if they are making a mandatory requirement to stay in a hotel on a certain weekend with a two night min stay, people should contact the chamber of commerce and complain. Remember I live in Great Falls, it takes some doing to fill up any hotel around here. (Anti-business community) I have stayed over night at the last four Cat/Griz games in Missoula, and haven't had to deal with a two night requirement.

Michigan Stadium's second-ever night game means big boost for Ann Arbor businesses

From the thread title I thought somebody had information about the pre-game show for next season. Nah. We'll :puke: :dead: never change. Except Mo might be growing and need a bigger bear suit. I wonder two things- how much will football ticket prices be raised to cover the $9m shortfall, and how many more commercials will we get on Griz vision instead of stats and replays?

For the 2012 Cat-Griz game, the Holiday Inn Express on Reserve required no such two-night stay. I spent Friday night covering MSU-Northern women's basketball in Great Falls, drove to Missoula the next morning, and stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express. The 2013 App. State game required no such two-night minimum either. Drove to Missoula Saturday morning, stayed at the Holiday In Downtown Saturday night, played golf Sunday morning at the Ranch Club and went to Glacier Park for Labor Day.

All this talk about how businesses suffer for night games is completely not true and coming from a very small minority of people on Egriz who just flat-out cannot except any changes the Griz football program has made since the Don Read era.

The South Dakota game this September is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff. It will be sold out, the bars will make tons of money and so will the hotels.

There's a new benchmark for late season night football... If they can kickoff Sunday's Super Bowl in the Meadowlands in near freezing temps at 6:30 PM EST the Griz sure as hell should be able to schedule home games at night through the end of November. Weather has never kept the NCAA from scheduling night playoff games at Wa-Griz...
