I can see the move up in football if the FcS keeps contracting but the WAC ain't going anywhere. We already would kick ass in both sports and in attendance. The big Sigh is a healthier conference. Mountain West. Sure.

There is no general desire or hint of leadership for UM to be anything more than what it is: the flag bearer for a half century old halfway house conference for teams in transition. A new generation of Gonzaga's and Boise State's will pass through while the Griz continue treading water waiting for...what? In the meantime, there is little to be satisfied about...

Well Tip, it looks like you can just accept the status quo or move on to something else...Montana athletics is what they are going to be.

If this is the first time you ever heard of this you dont follow basketball close enough.SeaGrizluvr said:Yukon said:Did not read the entire thread, but my opinion on one reason for the poor shooting is practicing shooting over the broom. Messed them up.
Do teams really do this? Sounded like a joke if it hadn't come right from the coach to the reporters. WOW! Just WOW!

Oh I'm not saying its a good idea or that it works. Just that its hardly a new or original practice.SeaGrizluvr said:grizchamp said:If this is the first time you ever heard of this you dont follow basketball close enough.SeaGrizluvr said:Yukon said:Did not read the entire thread, but my opinion on one reason for the poor shooting is practicing shooting over the broom. Yep, looks like it REALLY works too.

I really don't think your average or even more than average fan knows this, nor does it really matter.

Too, the ball didn't go in. Can't say Montana didn't shoot, and with good position; one of those games where the ball just didn't go in. They did shut down Cherry and Jamar, but Gregory missed several from "his" range. No real reason, just "didn't go in."
But, what a terrific season, what a terrific team, what a terrific coach. This was a team. Insofar as "sports" is concerned, this team is what it is really all about.

This is just it and its the same drum that I've been beating over and over again. If we ever want to make noise in the post season, we have to start playing a much stronger OOC schedule. Dominating a low-major conference and scheduling low to mid-major teams OOC, isn't going to prepare you to compete against athletes from the top tier programs. Our guys looked lost. They played like they had never seen a 2-3 zone before, which they have plenty of times. They just arent' used to that speed and passing and driving lanes closing up so quickly. They played scared with little agression or confidence.
To be fair, Syracuse was just a really bad draw for us and there are a number of teams ranked above them that we would have faired much better against. They have the talent to make a deep run in the tournament and beat anybody.
