GAME THREAD!!

Very embarrassing. It has a lot to do with match up. The zone is killer. Both Davidson and South Dakota State, teams we took to OT, were very respectable today, but they didn't play against this zone. We are shocked and playing like it. It is a shame. We are better than this.

We're shooting 20% from the field. Had some decent looks, nothing falling.

Big East >>> Big Sky.

Sucks to end a year like this but even thou we're in the "same" division as 'Cuse, they would beat us 10/10 times.
 
You know what really pisses me off is that people are going after Tinkle here. How about comprehending that Syracuse at one point was a team in teh top 5 in teh country. Had it not been for a mid season slow down by the Orangeman, this was a team that was in line at a point for a one seed.

They have 8 players on their team that Tinkle would take in a new york minute. No question. We needed an avalanche of things to go right. None of them have. We are quick and athletic, for the Big Sky.

Look this Griz team gutted its way to a lot of wins this year. They willed themselves beyond the many inferior opponents of the big sky. WIll and Kareem by themselves could carry the load. Syracuses zone takes that ability away. You can't manhandle a zone. This makes both of those guys just pedestrian.

This isn't about Wayne teaching the team more than one zone offense, this is about playing a team that is making us look bad in every facet. Give credit where credit is due. Would I like a better performance? Oh hell yes. But for petes sake this has absolutely nothing to do with Wayne.

I'm pretty sure they scored 6 points. This is the 2nd most embarrassing half of griz bball I've seen. The most embarassing is the ladies only scoring 6 points in the 2nd half against Pitt when they were right there the 1st half.

He is not missing the few shots...had Cherry passed off those steals there could be 6 points or more on the Griz side and 6 less on the SU score...perimeter passing, tentative play...not Tinkle doing that...sorry.
 
All things considered, I think I'd still rather get blown out in the tourney than not make it at all.
 
It is not Tinkle's fault we are getting our ass kicked. Have you seen the lame ass turnovers from players bobbling the ball, and not making open shots we have hit all year? Credit Syracuse for hitting their shots, but our offense is helping them more than their defense is hurting us.

Time to try trapping and pressing the hell out of them and see if MCW will turn it over or not?
 
One observation...

Will plays with a lot of emotion. That can be a plus at times.....but in games like this its a major hindrance as your emotions fall off the cliff.

Cherry pressed alot this year, initially trying to 'catch up' following his injury...I don't think he ever really found his game on a consistant basis, he has his moments but tonight he appears to be pushing it and forgetting four other guys...
 
If we win the BS Tournament next year can we turn down the NCAA Tournament and say we want to go to the NIT?

I listened to Bill Evans speak on a number of occasions. He said, you recruit the right guys a 2-3 zone is about as lethal defense as there is. I would shudder to think what Evans could do with a group like that. Yikes. There is a reason why Boeheim has been playing the defense for 30 years. Jesus they play it well.

Look, every low seeded team was playing a team who is much more talented, but most of the other low seeds at least showed up and did not embarrass themselves like Montana is doing. No excuse for playing this poorly.
