Future of the Big Sky, Expectations and Hopes

With Idaho rejoining the conference in 2018 we will be sitting at 14 schools for 2 seasons and when Dakota leaves in 2020 we will be back to 13. I don't know about you but I personally like an even number of teams and it would be fun to play Idaho every season in particular to renew the Rivalry. Just am curious what do you guys think the future of the Big Sky entails or what would you like to see? When we lose Dakota I personally think we should try to add San Diego as a football-only member and form two divisions of the Big Sky for scheduling purposes.

I don't think USD has any desire to offer scholarship football.

With the history of the moves this conference has made, I don't expect anything logical. I don't see the big advantage of 14 teams vs. 13, either produces an unbalanced schedule and a conf. championship game is not in the cards with playoffs. Possibly slight improvements in travel distance, but adding another perimeter location like San Diego would neutralize that. When the problem is too much addition in the past, more addition does not seem like the solution.

Either add another team or cull it down to 12. I prefer the later, but it will very likely never happen. The former, I don't see any good candidates unless the Independent experiment for NMSU has them wanting to move down.

Let us grab the great clever my friend, let's look to 10 or even 9 teams in the conference. As Ara Parseghian once said,"For the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and directional schools"https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff109180.html

I think the big sky (FB wise) should expand to contain all of the D-1 schools in the west that aren't PAC-12. Make it's own league & sub conferences, including playoffs, and send it's top couple teams into the national payoffs at the quarter finals level. More playoff excitement, with three levels (conference, western region and national) and the regional cost savings.

Brilliant; Boise St., BYU, CSU and San Diego St. can't wait for that to happen.

I believe that the Uof M is still a big dog in the conference and damn we need to bark a little to get want we want. I don't want to believe that Haslam is satisfied with the bsc .

Aren't you guys expecting an invite to the AFC West any day now?

Hell, I'd settle for dropping half the programs we have now and adding Missouri Western where the KC Chiefs hold training camp. At least their facilities are vastly superior to most in the bsc.

If we were to cut down the Conference to 12 or even smaller the only teams I could think of would be the teams that are not full members of The Big Sky Conference, that being Cal Poly and UC Davis which I don't see happening.
