He's old and afraid of change

If we don't move quickly and get womens softball going we will end up in the Frontier conf. soon enough!

A neat place to play football with a hugh fan base.......and we are slip sliding away!

I wonder if the NCAA could take another approach - Knock all the FBS scholarships down to the level of the FCS. Still have the pageantry, tradition, etc., etc. but at a whole lot less cost.

BCS schools would nix that. There would be way too many good players falling to the other FBS and, as a result, FCS schools. That leads to a bit more parity. No way they allow that.

It would never work--the power schools (SEC, Pac12, B10) have too much leverage with the mere threat of bolting from the NCAA, starting their own thing, and taking all their money (TV money, to a great extent) with them.

Haslam's point about FCS schools maybe playing each other more if the FBS bodybag teet dries up is a good one. It would be great to see the FCS schools with the best attendance schedule home and homes with decent payouts.

NDSU & Montana to mountain west. Problems solved. Would be top 2-3 programs

You do realize that the MWC consists of more than Boise State don't you. There are some good programs there and some on the rise. For example Utah State finished last year ranked #16 in the AP, #17 in the coaches poll, and #22 in the BCS ranking. USU has also done many facility upgrades in recent years, with more on the drawing board. San Jose State is also on the rise, and has announced a $38 million stadium renovation. http://footballscoop.com/news/9740-san-jose-state-is-aiming-for-a-38-million-stadium-renovation" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Fresno is usually good. Colorado State is investing in their program, building a new stadium. Air Force always puts a good team on the field. Wyoming has good tradition, and will be on the rise. Nevada, and San Diego State are usually good, even if SDSU never seems to live up to its potential.

Bottom line, the MWC is a much tougher conference than UM or NDSU competes in now. I have great admiration and respect for both programs, but to think that they would come in to the MWC and easily dominate right off the bat, is a little far fetched.

Bison nation, another thing to keep in mind is the fact the majority of Griz fans don't even WANT to move to the FBS level. The UM administration doesn't appear to be moving in that direction either. If I had to predict I would say that in 5-10 years NDSU will probably be in FBS. I would also predict that UM will still be in the Big Sky Conference and FCS. The idea of the entire conference moving to FBS is a pipe dream.

And here I thought NDSU was headed straight for the NFC North. Seems like FBS or the MW would be a step down for them.

Don't bother trying to apply logic to his posts.

Along with new members Western St., Ft. Lewis, Humboldt St. and Western Oregon.

No credible or knowledgeable person has ever suggested that the entire Big Sky conference move to FBS. The more recent scenario would involve having the creme of the BSC and some Dakota schools gain control of the WAC charter, which will be valid for several more years, and try to move up. I don't think that is likely to happen, but it is one avenue that could come into play as the landscape of college football, and the interests of various schools, changes.

NDSU has zero interest, this article in the und owned newspaper (yes, they own the writers, total schills) basically shows the desperation of und NEEDING NDSU.....like it always done. Und can't afford the big fluffy travel and let's all face it, your conference doesn't like flying into Fargo then bussing to grand forks does it?

NDSU football deserves FBS, this football program is that good. many Olympic sports at NDSU are FBS already. Wrestling top 25, softball top 25, track top 10 and a top 5 women's golfer.

We advocate MONTANA & NDSU package themselves to the mountain west.
sorry but ndsu has very little that resembles fbs football. indoor stadium-fail. off campus stadium-fail. craig bohl isn't staying around much longer, so those wins will dry up fast.
The FargoDome can hold over 19,000 and it is on campus. It would take a real sweet job opening for Coach Bohl to leave. Please don't post sh*t that isn't factual - if you don't know ask. Going to FBS with the increased scholarships is a lose lose situation for all FCS schools.

Haslam told me the WAC charter is good for two more years. Probably not enough time for Fullerton to get anything done.

Kem....Fullerton has his eye on Panhandle State along with the other powerhouse schools you mentioned in an earlier post.
