Fullbacks?

Like many of you, I was excited to once again see fullbacks play an important role in the offense. I could be wrong, but through 2 games (and 145 offensive plays) I'm not sure if I've seen our offense run a single play with a fullback on the field. In the mean time, our running backs have been doing a lot of pass blocking and dodging defenders at the line of scrimmage. The use of a fullback would likely improve our running game, shore up our pass blocking, and free up our tailbacks to catch passes out of the backfield (which they have done capably, so far). So what gives? Anybody know what's going on?

We have run multiple formations with Fullback sets. I have noticed what we have done on O to combat the pass rush is go to RPO's and quick passes. You cant run quick passes with 2 WRs. You really need 4 WRs on the field for blocking and scheming for short routes. So we don't have a lot of room for FBs right now. We could go to a 1 TE and 1 FB set with 2 WRs but that pretty much negates any passing options for us right now. Keep in mind I think we have only shown half of our sets and formations that I saw in practice. It's a combo of things. half our plays are coming out of the RPO right now and thats real tough to run with FBs and TEs in the game. We will see more and more as the season goes on. I would bet we see a few more this week. week 1 we saw more than week 2.
