Former Griz QB Kirk Rygol

Sad to say that he has passed away at the age of 24 on December 10th. He was an amazing young athlete at our high school here in Broadway VA. He won the starting position as a freshman and set records as a sophomore. I believe he was injured his junior year, and moved to SC for his senior year where he set more records. I had the privilege of coaching one of his younger brothers who is also a tremendous athlete. I was excited to see him with the Griz, and hoping that he would succeed there, unfortunately he was not there long. Not sure what happened there, but he was no longer listed on the roster later that year. I'm sorry for a sad post in these exciting times for Griz fans, just thought some might remember him and send a prayer for his family. As always Go Griz!

I truly do not remember this young man. My sympathies to his family.

He was on the 2020-21 roster. I think he only saw the field against Central Washington. Was competing with Cam Humphrey and Chris Brown I believe. Did not spend much time on the team. Not really sure what circumstances caused his departure.

I remember him. I thought he was the next big thing. Prayers for his family and hope they get through the dark times.
