Tyrone Holmes may have had the best game so far. Tonight vs Saints, 3 tackles (2 were solo), a sack, a TFL and a QB Hit.

Jordy Tripp had 4 tackles, 3 were solo for the Packers.

Caleb Kidder had 3 tackles, 1 was solo for the Patriots.

No stats that I see for Colt Anderson, with the Bills.

Rams, Chiefs and 49ers all have yet to play their games.

Who did I miss?

Poehls was in quite a bit for Chicago.

Thanks for the great info and research. Good to see some of the guys getting some stats. Colt has been on the PUP list from the start of season. Turf toe. Same thing he had late last season

Hope Mariani and Reynolds get picked up. Earlier this summer, Chase and his agent were optimistic. 5 or so teams had been in touch with Chase's agent. Mariani was hopeful earlier, waiting to see if some teams would see they needed a good returner with reliable hands. They both have saved their money, so they will be fine whether they get picked up or not. They have had good rides.

Both can still contribute in my opinion also. I'm curious if the veterans' minimum starts to hurt them at a certain level in the careers. Teams may elect to go with someone younger, and cheaper - where they think the talent level is close.

Anyone know if Mariani and/or Reynolds are interested in pursuing coaching careers?

I think Carpenter is in for a fight to continue his career too. Any updates on him?

This is certainly part of it as well. This happened to a friend of mine...priced himself out because a rookie 7th rounder can return kicks cheaper than a 5-6 year vet. I'm glad that they've been smart with their money per PR. Not only does Montana produce NFL talent, they are smart enough to save and invest! I do hope they are still picked up, of course. And I agree with you as well ordigger...they can both produce at this point.

Nelson had a tackle vs. the Niners, Coyle either didn't play or didn't record any tackles, but I saw he was dinged up earlier in the week (ribs)

Both on and off topic here, but I don't think this question requires a new thread.

I was watching the 49ers-Chiefs game last night and the announcers kept saying that there will only be one roster cut, at the end of the preseason for all NFL teams this year! If that is correct, what is the justification for the league to do this?
Seems to me like this will create a giant cluster-f*** during the 7-10 days teams have between the end of the preseason and the beginning of the regular season. Any thoughts?

According to the reports I read, Commissioner Goodell strongly opposed the change to one cut-down date. But then he'd also like to eliminate the 4th pre-season game -- because he feels (correctly, IMO) that it "diminishes the quality of the product." But ever since they cut the allowed amount of practice time some years back, coaches have complained about the lack of reps and training time. So they feel they need that 4th game just for the reps, especially for the marginal players. But they walk a fine line, since more reps means more chances for injuries. So the four preseason games give the coaching staffs the reps they need. AND, with the late cut-down date, they get to keep plenty of "cannon fodder" -- guys who have no real chance to make the team -- around to play in that 4th game, allowing them to protect their eventual starters.

As for the mess after the cut-down, "you got that right." The league office will need to work OT to process all those names hitting the waiver wire. My guess is, there will be lot of behind-the-scenes chatter going into the final pre-season games, with teams looking to see who might become available to fill a hole in their final rosters.

JR played most kickoffs and punts, and played half of 3rd and all of 4th quarter at CB, not one throw came to his man for the 1 1/2 quarters except for a 2 point conversion - in which oddly enough, Bourne formerly of EWU caught the ball over JR's helmet to get the 2 points in the 4th

Yes it is correct, reasoning was injuries after cuts and filling how teams would like to. Downfall is that a lot of lower guys will have no chance of making a roster after the cut. I'm sure teams have numerous people looking at games to fill holes and practice squads.

Rough night for Jamal with the Chargers.....if stats are correct, he was thrown to 7 times, but only caught 1. Hopefully those were on the qb, and not the receiver.

Yeah, sounds brutal, but he was targeted 3 more times than any other receiver... That is a definite positive... I don't know how ESPN qualifies incompletions, if the QB rolls out and throws out of bounds, the closest receiver gets the negative stat ??? NFL.com doesn't list anything at all...

I see one was intercepted...

If he dropped 2, that's his ticket to look for a new team unfortunately, but the QB's combined were 15/31...

The simple fact that they re-signed him after they cut him when he was injured says something also...

TJ didn't play or didn't record any stats, but I bet the Rams don't play him until the common practice of keeping all starters in for the whole 3rd preseason game... There is also that whole highest paid DB in the game thing, and his injury past because he doesn't worry about injury so to speak...

As far as Chase, I saw an interview today, he said he didn't want to continue with the Rams this season... I don't blame him, who would want to uproot everything to move to LA???

I suspect he will be signed by someone, he is on film getting first downs when first downs aren't supposed to be gotten...
