Interview with University of Montana's Dan Moore

It is refreshing when you speak to a football player and you immediately can understand the big picture in the world of football. You see Dan could have signed division one, but realized that it is more important to see the field than run the risk of being a spectator during the games. I am willing to bet Dan not only finds a roster spot but is a contributor within his first two seasons.

Footballdialogue: What are your official height, weight and speed?
DM: I am 5-11, 237 pounds and run a 4.55

Footballdialogue: What other sports did you play in high school?
DM: I did wrestling until I was a junior, baseball until I was a sophomore and did track and field too.

Footballdialogue: How did you end up at Montana playing football?
DM: I had the chance at first to sign with Colorado, but they were also after (and got) Darrell Scott from California to sign there and at that point he was considered the number one running back in the country. I got an offer to come to Montana for a visit from Bobby Hauck and his brother Tim, and immediately fell in love with the place.

Footballdialogue: You are a legendary weight room warrior. How did you get started with weights?
DM: It all started when I was in fourth or fifth grade and my mother would drop me off at the YMCA with my lunch, and I’d play basketball; but I also started working at getting stronger and that’s where the love of weights started. I used to be there until 6:30 at night so I had the time to put in the work.

Footballdialogue: What do you think of the comparison to Peyton Hillis?
DM: It is a great honor as he is terrific player and I do see some similarities in our game.

Footballdialogue: In a few words what does football mean to you?
DM: Everything, as my whole life I’ve been working to get better at it. It is something that gets my whole family together to watch, it and now the chance to make a living doing it would be dreams come true.

Footballdialogue: What is the best thing about Tucson, AZ?
DM: The weather, without a doubt. As I woke up, and even in the winter, it is fifty degrees, so you can’t beat that. I get to train all year round and that is something I love about Arizona.

Footballdialogue: What are your thoughts on playing special teams?
DM: I love special teams. I played all four years on special teams and was special team’s captain. Anything I can do to help a team, I’m all for it.

Footballdialogue: Who was the best player you went against in college?
DM: Appalachian State, MLB, Jeremy Kimbrough is the name that comes to mind first when I hear that question.

Footballdialogue: If a scout asked for highlights of your best game what would you give him?
DM: Appalachian State this year was my best game ever.

Footballdialogue: Who was your role model growing up?
DM: My father is everything to me. He’s a hard worker who always has his family first in everything he does and is someone I have always looked up to.

Footballdialogue: Are you on twitter?
DM: @ DMoore35

It was AlphaGriz who did that, most all live video are his shots too.

I am going to miss watching Dan Moore play for the GRIZ. I will miss his bad ass attitude too. I pray he stays healthy at the next level. That is all he needs is healthy. He has all the tools to be a solid NFL back. He is faster and stronger than Lex. He also would make one hell of a MLB. This guy plays without fear.

After watching that video, I am so ready to be cheering on Joey Counts for 3 more years. Counts has more balance than Moore, not sure if he is faster though. I hope we get 1 big versatile RB every year on the field. I love the way they punish defenders.

Thanks Brint...I figured that he had done the video (cause it was a maroonblood production), but didn't want to assume and slight somebody.

Good video Alpha. What's the term used...bada$$.

Go Griz!

My understanding is that Counts is faster.

I see Counts at the rec center on campus.. The guy is huge. I've seen Moore there a lot too when he was here.. I wouldnt be surprised if he is the same weight as Moore now, or a tad lighter.

Dang I can't wait till Monday!! I don't think I've ever said that before.

Brint - give us your schedule? What kind of updates can we see next week? You're the man.

Go Griz!

I just checked the Griz Dictionary and under Football Player Extraordinaire it listed Dan Moore.

A healthy Dan Moore is the most punishing back in U of M history IMHO. Green on his good days (EWU game comes to mind)would be next. Moore just kills db's who dare step in his path. Stay healthy my friend.
