First time at EWU

FTR, I had a great time at 2012 EWU game, except for the final score. MOST EWU fans were great to hang out and tailgate with, with the exception of the students on the way back to parking area. But that was a night game. I'm thinking Saturday's game will be a lot less rowdy. Northern Quest is a blast, and I happen to love downtown Spokane. I really don't think it warrants the Spokompton label anymore.

I'm not sure, but I also think 2012 was the year EWU started making it much harder for Griz fans to buy up all the tickets, and I CAN ASSURE any EWU poster on here, that night was NOT 80/20 in favor of Eastern fans. It was 50/50 at BEST. That's not smack, that's reality. I don't know if it can change that drastically in 2 years, so I'm gonna say there is NO WAY it's 80/20 on Saturday either.

Good Post.

One of the issues with visiting fans is that they enter/exit the same gate as the students do, so its bound for problems. Most EWU fans are great, but both sides will have some dumb-asses, a noon kickoff probably helps a little bit of that problem.

As far as attendance, the last two years Eastern's season tickets have skyrocketed. The entire home side of the field is designated to just season ticket holders and students. The remaining season tickets fill up about 1/2 of the north end zone, which means between students and season ticket holders your looking at about 7500 fans, maybe 8k. With the additional bleachers brought in for the Griz game, the stadium will probably seat 11,000, the Griz were probably given an allotment (500 or 1000) and the rest went to GA sale. It will probably be at least 75/25 in favor of EWU fans, if not a little higher.

Should be a great game on Saturday, always is when the Griz are in town...

Eat at in Spokane at a great restaurant named "Chaps". It is a high-end sports bar-restaurant, with much better food than most sports bars. Great atmospere too. Best of all, the couple who owns Chaps are from Montana (Havre). It is very convenient to locate about a mile South of I-90 on your way West from Cheney.

Here is a link to check it out:

Chaps is great! But it's not a sports bar. not in the least bit. There aren't event any TVs there. And it's not really in Spokane either. It's more Cheney than Spokane

Not a sorts bar? What would an Eagle fan know about the topic of sports? And it is nowhere near Cheney. It is on the road to Pullman.

Keep an eye out for this guy...

We will be going to the EWU game Saturday, our first time at a game in Cheney. We'd like some advice on: where to park? are backpacks allowed in the stadium (I'm not trying to sneak anything in; just want my water bottle, a blanket, etc)? will there be a Griz/GSA tailgate; if so, where? Advice from those of you who've been there before would be much appreciated.

Don't blink, you'll miss the small stadium.

To the best of my knowledge, there are only 2 schools in the Big Sky sporting the High School style bleachers. EWU and the UNC Bears. :?
Maybe EWU should have saved some $$ by NOT installing a field made by Tampax and instead put in a green field AND Real visitors seating.

Nah, we're cool with the National Championship, Big Sky titles and cabinets full of the best talent in the Big Sky. Y'all can keep your "biggest stadium award" and message board fodder. :P
  This dildo thinks they have a better football program!!  Point and laugh at the Meth Head! Dumbass...

Pack some mace...
If they get to close throw some crumbled up crackers on the ground. I hear they resemble meth rocks. This should give you enough time to get the mace out while they're fumbling around looking for their crack pipes and lighters.

It can be a rather uncomfortable place for a visiting fan. As a public service I have consulted the U.S. State Department's website for advising American's traveling to hostile environments.

1) Attempt to blend in with the native population. In this case, act dazed and confused and throw in a lot of "dudes", "The ice has got me so f***[*] up today!", and "Let's go knock off a convenience store after the game", in an attempt to fit in.

2) Attempt to not look like a "normal" American: If you and your wife have a full set of teeth, DON"T let people see this. Also, throw in an expletive after every third word. It will help to keep them off of your trail and a sure way to fit in.

3) Attempt to join with the locals: This can range from tales of trailer park problems to putting a big block in your Camaro or moving your head to the latest gansta rap song being blasted at the tailgate. Try telling a heartwarming tale to get their sympathy, "My daughter died in a meth explosion", "My son is doing 5-8 in Walla Walla for AR", "My son graduated from ewu in 2009 and has already become the assistant manager at the Moses Lake Radio Shack".

4) Respect native customs and reflect where they are coming from. Be impressed with a Radio & TV certificate, agree that Spokane is actually a hub of Cheney, and look in awe when they talk about the "stadium" and the red field.

5) Sew a Canadian flag to you and your wife's coat. A lot of ewu grads will think you're from Switzerland.

If you follow these simple tips there is still no reason that you will return safely to Montana.

Enjoy the game!

You have outdone yourself.
