First Griz Game

New member
Attending my first Griz game on the 8th vs Drake. This will be my first gameday in Missoula (been to a Griz game away, just never at Washington-Grizzly Stadium). Need suggestions on where to tailgate, things not to miss before the game, during, and after. Appreciate any suggestions and look forward to cheering the Griz to victory vs Drake.

Go Griz!

Call me jealous. I bet your a long way from home though. You should see a good beat down. Hopefully the crowd and atmosphere will begin to get back to the early 2000’s. I’d heard it had began to dwindle a bit but I think that was Stitts fault too :D. Anyways, that above link is amazing and has most everything you’ll need to know. Have fun and Go Griz!

Awesome you’ll have a blast! There is a general tailgate area with food and beer to purchase and usually live music as well. That’s open to anyone so you can set up shop there. Otherwise there are lots of folks out motor homes, buses, tailgate spots who are always welcoming and friendly. Just say hi and you’ll be eating and drinking in no time.

I’d get in your seats about 20 mins prior to start as there is usually a good pregame to take in. If you like BBQ there is an awesome place downtown called the Notorious P.I.G. The press box by the stadium is always a draw on game days for breakfast and partying. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions. Have a blast!

Haha sooooo good. Great ribs and great sandwiches. Best smoked bbq turkey sandwich I’ve ever had. My folks got the ribs and said they were incredible. It’s a cool little joint.

Thank you. Definitely gonna have to try it. Never heard of it, but I try to avoid Zootown other than game days.

Look for the I BRAKE FOR BBQ bumper sticker

Have you tried the BBQ joint in P-burg?

it is pretty good. The one in Frenchtown was the best but not sure it is still there. Montanabbq it is a lot closer and was really good.

Chris, bring the bride by so we can meet her....

Appreciate all the info everyone, can't wait. Do you need a permit to park at any of the lots around the stadium or is it first come first serve? Hope to see some of you there, I'll have plenty of bourbon so hopefully we can have a drink or two....

Go Griz!

There are both reserved lots and pay parking lots tosouth West and immediate South of the stadium. The spots surrounding the stadium are all reserved for tailgate parties. There is also a large two story parking garage south of the University Center, approximately 250-300 yards away from the stadium.

Walking to the game may be your best option especially if you’re staying downtown. You will be joined by thousands and you’ll walk directly into the tailgate area. Reds Bar may still have a shuttle to the game.
