Also this season, Stats Perform will present the Walter Payton Award (FCS offensive player of the year), Jerry Rice Award (FCS freshman player of the year), Eddie Robinson Award (FCS coach of the year) and Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Both Ford and O'Connell should be statistically in the top 5. The Jackson State DE, James Houston, and the Florida A& LB, Isaiah Land, both had great seasons. Ford's numbers absolutely pop off this list and O'Connell's compete with these other two. My vote is Ford for the Buchanan. Hope they don't cannibalize each other.

This list should probably only have about 10 players on it. There are 6-7 that absolutely pop off the page on here.

Standing by my prediction that Justin Ford barely makes honorable mention All Big Sky and wins the Buck. Good to see him FINNALLY show up on the list.

Jace Lewis dominated Troy Anderson when they went against together for the few plays Troy was in on offense. I don't see how Jace is not on this list when he showed he was better than one of the finalists on here.

This is a defensive award. I don’t think they care how Andersen looked on offense.

Fair point.

Watch the conference defensive MVP go to Troy Anderson.

And just like that the Big Sky once again fails to reward the top defensive player. Hope the Buchanan gets it right.

Boy. Committee must REALLY love those extra 20 tackles.

Both VERY good players... Troy had more tackles, Solo Tackles, INT's and PBU's... Patrick had more Tackles for loss, Sacks, FF, and QBH...

AGAIN... Both are great players, and one of them still has another year left.

Not just "more". like TWICE as many TFL's....SIX TIMES as many sacks, THREE times as many FF's....those aren't small differences. But I'm sure Anderson got the career achievement award, because that's what it's become.

Now, O'Connell is almost a lock for the Buchanan.
