My poll guesses were pretty good. My only bad miss was how far Cal Poly would drop with their loss -- and I was quite happy with that. My guess was #24, so only dropping to #20 looks good.

Anyway, I hit twenty-one on the nose (including the top nine) or within ±1. The Griz dropped two more than I guessed (which is not too bad), but I'm not going to quibble with a #14 ranking. (New Hampshire also dropped two more spots than I expected.)

As I expected, NAU dropped out of the top-25 and was replaced by McNeese Statte.

Not sure what else Lamar has to do to get into the top 25.
Well, they have a bye week and then meet SE Louisiana. Maybe if some low-ranked teams lose, they could slip in while they were idle. Having seen them play Baylor tough for awhile and then beat SHSU, I'd say they were for real.

So I'm curious... which is the official poll? I noticed during the game on Saturday that ESPN used the coaches poll for ranking Montana #7 and Liberty #14, but STATS seems to be the poll a lot of people use too. Any insight?

I think its a toss up... both are used.

The Coaches Poll should be renamed the AD Poll, as I doubt seriously that any coaches send in thier picks.

And even that might be a stretch. How about the Assistant AD? :)

I wish the polls would not be released until 4 to 6 weeks into the season. I feel the GRIZ are ranked about right where they should be now. The last 2 games showed we have Top 10 talent, but far from the top 10 in executing on offense and special teams. If the offense improves and the GRIZ can win through the transitional growing pains, Top 10 come the playoffs certainly is possible. If the GRIZ drop a few more games, then they could fall out of the top 25. It really is hard to know in a coaching and system transition.

Agee the polls should wait a while, but then there's one less thing to bitch about every Monday. The spot is generous @ best given the circumstances, not sure I would suggest anything in the top 20 right now. We'll know more after the NAU game...

Generous rank, perhaps the win over the Buffs Gives us some cred
We can only run on those fumes for so long.....
