Griz slipped a spot … and I have no problem with that.

As I rather expected, NAU didn’t drop much, only two spots. And UC-Davis did move into the top-25, while both New Hampshire and Furman dropped out.

Thought sure Delaware would move in rather than Rhode Island (they had more poll points than Rhode Island last week). Guess the pollsters were more impressed by their win over Albany (45-26) than by Delaware’s pounding of Lafayette (37-0).

Despite the losing streak at the end, they were 8-3 for the regular season and made the playoffs. Then they lost by a point (missed PAT) in their playoff game. That gave them some pre-season cred, which -- let's face it -- the Griz did not have.

There first game this year was against the South Florida Bulls, a team that was 10-2 last year, including a nice bowl win. Then they came back to beat the crap out of Furman, 45-7. That Furman team went two deep in the playoffs last year. So they have a decent resume.

Besides, whoever said the pollsters had to be consistent? :lol:

They sure did. 448 total yards of offense vs 262 for Furman. Averaged 6.5 yards per rush vs 3.8 ypr. And Furman managed only 67 yards passing (?!!!). All that with 7 penalties (63 yards) called on Elon compared to just one (10 yards) against Furman. Three turnover (2 fumbles, 1 INT) by Furman vs none for Elon.

Pretty much a thorough beat-down.
