FCS STATS Poll Guesses (Oct 18)

There’s bound to be another major shake-up in the polls, with seven ranked teams losing yesterday. Three of those were to another ranked team. But not only did the other four lose to unranked teams, three of them lost to unranked teams with losing records.

Poll Guess, Team (Record), [Current Rank]
1 Jacksonville St (5-1) [1]
2 Coastal Carolina (6-0) [3]
3 Illinois State (5-1) [4]
4 James Madison (7-0) [5]
5 Chattanooga (5-1) [6]
6 S Dakota St (5-1) [7]
7 NDSU (4-2) [2]
8 E Washington (4-2) [8]
9 SHSU (4-2) [9]
10 Fordham (6-1) [10]
11 Richmond (5-1) [13]
12 E Kentucky (4-2) [14]
13 McNeese State (6-0) [15]
14 Portland State (5-1) [17]
15 Harvard (5-0) [18]
16 YSU (3-3) [11]
17 UNI (2-4) [12]
18 Montana (3-3) [20]
19 Indiana State (4-2) [21]
20 Western Illinois (4-2) [NR]
21 MSU (3-3) [16]
22 W&M (4-2) [24]
23 North Carolina A&T (5-1) [NR]
24 New Hampshire (3-3) [19]
25 Villanova (3-3) [25]

NR Liberty (3-4) [22]
NR SE Louisiana (3-3) [23]

It’s possible NDSU won’t drop quite as far as I project, but their current 4-2 record looks to be in the right place next to EWU.

Youngstown State lost to a high-ranked team, so one could expect they wouldn’t drop too much. However, the game was a beat-down on their home field, so I dropped them the usual amount. It would not surprise me to see them go down another spot.

Northern Iowa lost to a pretty good Western Illinois team (which I have moving into the top-25, you’ll notice). But, it was at home and that 2-4 record looks weird sitting at #17. Would not surprise me at all if they dropped another spot or two.

Had the kitties stayed a bit closer, I might not have dropped them so far. They could come in one spot higher than where I’m guessing. On the flip side, notice that all those losses ahead of PSU made room to move the Vikings up nicely. I like them at #14, but could see them moving even a bit higher.

New Hampshire lost on the road to a ranked team, so I dropped them the usual amount. The losses by Liberty and SELA were to teams that still have losing records despite their wins on Saturday. So I’m betting both will be gone from the top-25. As already mentioned, one replacement is likely to be Western Illinois. The other will probably be NC A&T, which has been not far out of the top-25 for several weeks now.

All this projects the Griz to move up. I think a #18 spot is fair -- and UM could even move up another spot if the pollsters hammer UNI a bit more.

I think JMU needs to be in the Top 3.
And I really like their QB, Vad Lee. IMO, he's better than Rodney Landers was. Or Dudzik.
