Only five ranked teams lost yesterday, so you wouldn’t expect many changes in the next poll … except for the fact that three of those losses were among the Top-10 teams.

The first order of business is obviously to decide what to do with South Dakota State. With such a close game, decided late, the Jack’ won’t fall much. But I do think the pollsters will move the kitties to #2. (FWIW: SDSU is now tied for 4th in the MVFC, behind three teams with no conference losses.)
Next, we have two bad losses in the Top-10. The Villanova at Maine game seemed like such a mismatch, I didn’t include it in the “Upset Guesses” poll. But the Black Bears came out with their hair on fire and absolutely dominated the Wildcats. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if the pollsters punished them even more than my guess. Pretty much the same thing happened to Mercer.
With those two losses in the Top-10, several teams, including the Griz, should move up two spots.
Next up, I’m trying something I almost never do: I rewarded Richmond a one-spot bump for their decisive win over transitioning Delaware. The pollsters seldom do this, but I think they might in this case.
The final two ranked losses were easy calls. New Hampshire and Florida A&M, barely hanging on in the Top-25, lost and will surely drop out.
Since there was a tie for the bottom spot, only one replacement is needed. I moved Western Carolina up … their win gave them the lead in the SoCon.
