FCS on DirecTV

As noted on other threads, quite a few FCS games do appear on ESPN3 ... but not the Griz.

If you want to watch some other FCS teams, and you have DirecTV wtih a sports pack, there are a few coming up. (From other posts, I gather that Dish often has a similar schedule.) On Thursday:
UMass @ Connecticut
Sac State @ NMSU (upset not out of the question :?: :) )

Friday night: Rerun(?) of Towson @ Kent State

Saturday:
App State @ East Carolina (featured)
N. Iowa @ Wisconsin (could get ugly)
Richmond @ UVirginia (hope it gets ugly)

Since these are all several days out, I don't know how firm the schedules are (so I didn't try to post channels -- but they're all the high 600+ numbers). Anyway, something to think about.

I thought umass moved up. Maybe that's next year.
Well, I read something that implied they weren't eligible as a 1-A until next year, so I went ahead and included them. They ARE playing a full 1-A schedule this year, but it turns out they're caught in "no man's land."
When I checked, I found an old move-up announcement

Here's the crucial information

While UMass will begin MAC football play in 2012, it will not be eligible for a MAC title or bowl opportunities until 2013.
So they're no longer -- as you noted -- actually a 1-AA program, but they're not really a full member of the 1-A MAC either. (I should edit them out of my original post, but we'll let it stand. ) The article does not say if they get to share MAC revenue (TV, bowl money allotments from other conference teams, etc.), but I would assume they will.
