Favre's streak is more impressive than Ripken's

Starting 297 straight games at QB (321 if you count the playoffs) in the NFL is mind boggling. I was never a Packer or Viking (or Jets) fan but have always loved to watch this guy play and this streak just blows me away when you stop and think about it. Ripken's is incredible also but he never got hammered by 300 lb defensive linemen regularly either. It's tough for a QB in the NFL to start every game for one season, let alone 18 or 19 straight seasons.

Toughest Mother F'er on the the planet!

Agreed. Both are mind blowing streaks that won't be broke in my lifetime IMO. Near 300 games in a league as violent as the NFL is very impressive.

I have always liked Favre. I was thinking tonight that he is probably my choice for the best NFL player of all time. His play in recent (aging) years, especially his terrific season last year, is what made me think he might be the best ever.

Definitely agree with this post about Favre. It's going to be a very long time before we see another QB come anywhere close to that streak.

For a guy of his age to have the type of year he had last year was flat out amazing too. 33 tds, only 7 picks, 68.4% completion percentage, 4202 yards, and a 107.2 qb rating. Wow.

It's too bad that there was so much attention paid to him waffling on whether to retire or not... That seems to detract somewhat from how great of a career he's had in the NFL.

If he wasn't such a joke anymore I would like it better, and that's coming from a Packer fan.

I second that.

In hindsight, though, was it not one of the most brilliant move by Packer management to send him down the line when they did? I am grateful that he didn't create this kind of mess while still wearing a packer jersey.

oh little fella, your qb has made it through one of the three years without getting injured hasn't he? I liked green bay until favre left, went out there for a home game with the relatives that live there. good fun. but I hope aaron rodgers loses every game he plays. should've let favre do whatever he wanted...it's not like he couldn't have qb'd them to miss the playoffs, just like rodgers.

Manning is only 95 games back at 202 and I don't see that streak coming to an end anytime soon. Miguel Tejada's streak that ended about three years ago got within 1,500 games of Ripken's streak and that could be the last real challenger for awhile.

It's really comparing apples to oranges. Who is to say which is tougher or more impressive?
