Favorite Handgun??

I just ditched my Taurus PT145 in favor of a Glock 23 generation 4... Even when thoroughly cleaned with a bore snake, taken apart with a fine toothed cotton pad etc, the Taurus would jam...

I won't have a chance to go to the range until Monday to fire the Glock, but was wondering what others like

I'm into Springfield XDM, Sig, and Kimber also

Hate Taurus and Beretta... Drop a Beretta in the sand... Good Luck

My favorites, in no particular order:

-Springfield XDM 40 4.5
-Springfield XDS 9mm 3.3
-A pristine Colt Woodsman .22, (Much love to Willie for makin' this happen!) :thumb:
-Colt Single Action Army .45

XD .45 subcompact
XD .40 subcompact
XD .45 full size
XD 9mm compact
Smith&Wesson 1066 10mm

Lots of Springfield replies... Why??? Cause they kick ass... The only problem I had with the 3 I owned were they were off left... Easy to fix, but with the Taurus, that's the only thing I liked, it was dead center brand new

Taurus is a pretty cheap brand of gun.. kinda get what you pay for. One place in town here stopped selling them because they were getting too many defective returns.

I've got:
Romanian Tokarev TT33
Smith and Wesson MP45
Sig Sauer P2022
Browning .22

Love the S&W..

I only own 2 pistols, both revolvers, a ruger 22 mag and a S&W double action 357. Love them both!

In Washington, at the same store the DC Snipers bought their guns, they have an indoor range where you can test out anything before buying... I wish I would have tested out the Taurus PT145... On the flip side, I never had any problems with the Taurus 24/7...

I wish the gun stores around here had indoor test ranges...

Although you answered your own question about Springfield's, I'll tell you why I bought the two that I have.

Simply put, I listed to ALPHA's advice. The guy is an an absolute encyclopedia of fire arm knowledge! And by sayin' "encyclopedia", I mean that he knows more than me about these things.

I've yet to regret listening to him...

Kimber Pro Carry II for packing.

Ruger 41 Blackhawk for cannon.

Smith and Wesson 357 for nostalgia.

Taurus Judge for fun.

But, I am more of a shotgun man..

Yeah, the 3 XD's I had were recommended by my 2 Military buddies... I miss my XD... Gave one to both of them, and they owe me big time!!! :D

I am a Combat Arms Instructor for the Air Force. My favorite handgun is the Berretta 9MM, hand made in Italy. The Air Force uses 9mm's made in the USA and they are notorius for having the locking block break about every 1200 rounds or so. My son is a Police Officer for Great Falls and he likes the Glock 40mm.

I was a ROTC instructor in the Army Reserves in Virginia, and all the Drill Sergeants there couldn't stand the Beretta... Just my and theirs opinion, but I will never own one

sig p220 (the best .45 I've ever owned)

cz sp-01 9mm (best 9mm I've ever owned).

I've been thinking about getting a Sig. I'll keep your suggestion in mind.

Love the Sig, but if I could have only one handgun (what a nightmare) I'd take the CZ every time. Google "best 9mm" and CZ is at the top of the list every time. It's amazingly accurate and the trigger pull is perfect out of the box (plus, 9mm ammo is still easy to get and relatively inexpensive).

40 Ammo is still easy and cheap also.

True. My next purchase will be an XD .40.
