Favorite Brawl Memory

favorite moment - Justin Fords blocked field goal returned for a TD, I don't think I've ever heard the stadium so loud. It was incredible.

Favorite game has to be last year. I think a lot of people are forgetting how confident the Cats were they were going to win. The narrative was they were going to run it down our throat and there is nothing we could do to stop them. That didn't end up working out so well for then. Big Sky Title on the line, playoff home field advantage on the line, trophy on the line... and we absolutely dominated them. It wasn't even close. It was glorious. I know our defense is nowhere near last years, but a lot of posters here need to realize anything can happen. I believe.

1st: 2021 in Missoula. My wife and I were at that game, and had sideline passes for pre-game. Took us a bit to get up to our NEZ seats, so I was standing at the railing just below the NWEZ corner on the 2nd play from scrimmage when Humphrey hit Bergen in stride for a 74 yard TD, with a future NFL LB attempting (and failing) to chase him down.

2nd: Same game...midway through the 3rd period...the deafening roar of the crowd when Tripp blocked that FG and Ford scooped it up and took it 56 yards for the backbreaker...Never in my life have I heard Wa/Griz louder...

The 1965 game where Jan Stenerud set field goal distance record that stood for years. A 40m.p.h. tail wind lofted it thru the uprights at old Gatton field...the Griz faithful had arrived on a special train that partied all the way with Mojo's Mark III band boogeying in a boxcar...that was fun.

The year was 1967, the weather was not fit for man nor beast. It’s 5:30am, most of us were still drunk from the previous evening. We boarded the Eastbound freight, yes freight train, on our way to the unfriendly confines of bobcat field or whatever it was called then. Billed as the GRIZZLY EXPRESS make no mistake this was no more than a milk train. If memory serves me correctly, barely, the train consisted of 4 freight cars, 0ne car had the rock band Yellowstone, car number two was the bar car, car number 3 was full of giggling freshman girls and number 4 was freshmen men drunk, vomiting, throwing up all over each other and fighting.
Meanwhile, us older, more mature students were pacing ourselves with the alcohol were residing in cars 5,6 and 7. These were semi luxurious, as I remember, passenger cars. Two sets facing each other with a little pop up table in the middle for mixing drinks. The only drawback to cars 5,6 and 7 was a prick faced conductor, with his pleated, official railroad uniform complete with his UP issued military style brimmed hat. The hat was his first but not last mistake. He, the conductor, was bent on making sure his 3 car domain was to be unscratched for this journey to the hell hole of Bozeman. OH that poor conductor man, had he only known. Memory is a little fuzzy here, can’t remember if it was coming into or going out of Deer Lodge but suddenly, not sure if it was car 6 or 7 but some unscrupulous individuals managed to dislodge one of those cute mixing tables and projected it through one of those nice big windows.
Long story short, that prickfaced conductor got off at Butte, got back on at Butte, proceeded to consume copious amount of liquor and was last seen trying to convince a young coed, obviously from car 3, that he was a USArmy Captain.
Damned if I can remember the score or who won that game. But I don’t think it was us.
The conductors hat? Last seen proudly displayed next to “Liquor Up Front Poker In the Rear” at the Stockmans Bar.

My favorite memory is of 2024.
Scats were 11-0 and dreaming of a NC.
Griz had had a tough year and were not expected to be able to stop the unbeatable scats.
But after a year of switching Qbs the Griz had found their man. His fire was lit when Bobby told him to f off in front of everyone and Fife went out and lit up PSU. Bobby realized that he had lost his cool and forgave Fife but Fife kept the fire burning all 2nd half and into the penultimate game of the regular season.
Bobby had a great game plan and the Griz played like they knew they were capable of all year.
The Scats were stunned! This was not what they expected. Their egos busted and bruised, they realized that they were not the team of destiny for the NC but rather the team that once again was destined to be humbled in their own litter box.

That is far and away my favorite memory
