From the Missoulian: (Guard Kevin Criswell)

“That's the important thing, we got a big win late in the conference,” Criswell said. “I'm just excited that the fan support came and made the atmosphere the best I've ever seen it since I've been here. It's not tough to get up for games like this.

“I'm not used to it from early in my career. It would be nice to see that for the rest of the year, but it's probably not realistic. I have a lot of respect for them coming out and showing the support.”

Great job Kevin, and the rest of the Griz B-Ball team!

Footballguru says (to the fans) get your asses out there the rest of the of season!

Go Griz!

No reason not to support the Griz. If UM wants to keep Larry-
they had better think about it. He has done a great job.

I have a problem with one thing Kevin said :wink: ;

It would be nice to see that for the rest of the year, but it's probably not realistic.

There's a few more home games, and all of them are HUGE (braketbuster aside). I'll bet there's large crowds at every remaining home games.

The Griz nation is waking up to a fun Men's BBall squad, and I think there will be solid support the rest of the season!

Go Griz!!!

I agree ReMax, that there will be continued support of the mens team this season...

I think Kevin was just saying how great that crowd was for the feline game, and that not much could top that atmosphere...And that he was probably just saying it wasn't probably realistic to expect that type of crowd support again as an enticement to the fans. Maybe he was playing to the audience a bit. He's a smart guy. And they certainly deserve 7,300 raucous (boisterous) fans the rest of the way.

I am happy for Montana hoops, the way things are currently and the way things look to be heading.

Now lets see if we can match that high for the Ladies as well!!

They exceeded it for the NCAA tourney game a couple years ago.

If the griz and LGs both host the sky tourney, people will actually start living in Dahlberg in early March.

I don't post much on here, usually just read what is posted. But here is my :twocents: for what its worth. 7,300 screaming, towel waving fans. Wow thought we were at a Steelers football game. I loved it although our seats sux. In section 116 row 5 behind the damn tuba players :crybaby: The crowd was loud and I believed it caused a couple Cat players to miss free throws down at the North end with the towels waving. Only negative thing I have to say about the crowd is the chanting that was coming from the student section and you all heard it. Surprised no one has posted anything about it. Is it okay to chant that here and not at Bozeman. The two treys by Criswell and Chavez, then the put back by Martin were huge and seemed to take the wind out of the sails of the Cats. Got to say that Criswell is the heart and soul of the Griz, but my favorite player on the team in Chavez. Wish Larry could find more playing time for him. First time I seen him play was in the Class C State tournament in Butte when he played for Heart Butte. He impressed the heck out of me and was happy to see him go to the Grizz. Matt Martin played a heck of a game. Glad to see it. His defense and offense was another turning point in the game. Then Hasquet, his offensive output was huge. Kept the Grizz close throughout the game. Ok three more home games left. Two that means something. We need a sweep of both Nothern Arizona and Sac State at Missoula and at Bozeman if we are going to host any Big Sky tourney. The last road trip of the season really has me worried because of our play on the road. Griz are gonna have to show up for both halves of these games. Lets all see if we can get another 7300 fans Wednsesday against NAU. GO GRIZ.

nice post pburg. yes, we all heard the chanting, and screaming. but i was under the impression that talk like that doesn't occur in missoula, so it had to be cat fans that made the trip! so i didn't bother posting. it happens in all stadiums, so there has to be a lot of cat fans doing a lot of traveling.

I think you aslo have to acknowledge the game Strait had, especially in the second half. He was in a little foul trouble in the first half. When the Cats doubled him on the block in the second half, he did an amazing job of finding the open man. Criswell, Martin, Hasquet hit some big perimeter shots when Andrew found them. That was a huge key to the run the Griz made in the second half. The other key was their defensive intensity. Casey Durham must have nightmares of Ellis and Martin for about three weeks after he plays the Griz. He was flustered again in the second half, and it affected his shooting and defensive play. I liked how aggressive the Griz guards were at going to the basket in the second half. They took the Cats out of their game completely. They did a great job against Moss as well. That guy is super quick, and a great scorer, yet we held him in check. Impressive win for the Griz, and they have some momentum going into the home stretch of the conference season. the crowd was great, and GRIZ BASKETBALL IS BACK WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE!

GO GRIZ!!!!
