Humphrey out after EWU game.
Lost a starting O-lineman, Keintz.
Went into the season without starting RB Knight.
Backup RBs Ostmo, Childs, and Harris have all missed games due to injury.
Starting safety, Robertson, has missed games due to illness.
Sulser has not played since first half of EWU game.
Rensvold has not played.
Demming Twins not on the team.
There are other injuries that have taken players from games, but those stated above are players that have missed at least one full game due to injury, illness, or departure. Other contributors that have missed game time to injury include:
Todd, Babros, Belknap, Forbes, Walker, Flowers, Hicks-Onu.
Subjective information:
Defense gets tired because they are on the field too much. Griz time of possession is killing the defense.
Offense has had more injuries (and Keintz leave) than are sustainable. I know the, "next man up" mentality is one of Haucks go-to phrases, but nobody can run the scheme they want when the starting RB is a true freshman recruited to play WR.
Offensive line has been inconsistent, but not the main problem. Lack of a true RB and QB play has made them look worse than they are.
I have been critical of offensive play calling, but it is also important to keep injuries in mind. This team would be SIGNIFICANTLY different without all the injuries, particularly on offense.
I could not agree more. Next man up is great but at some point you are putting inexperience on the field, with that comes less execution and maybe gameplan change to fit personal.
Cat fans would have to search their roster to tell you who their 5th string RB is. Hopefully this offense continues to improve and gets some pieces back in place.
