Don't care how we finish in conference as long as we get to the NC game... because unlike the Griz, we don't lose that one. :thumb:

Yeah, and you have played in so many of them!

Kyle Padron - ?

Padron (6'4 - 233), who beat out Bo Levi at SMU after BLM's injury in 2009 and led (won 5 of 7) the Mustangs to their first bowl and bowl win (45-10 beatdown of Nevada) since the Death Penalty in the 80s, has announced via twitter that he'll be following in BLM's footsteps (passing lanes?) and transferring to EWU.

Stats at SMU:
Padron: 23 games - 446/709 (63%) 41TDs/21INTs, 5902 yds, 7 rush TDs
Bo Levi: 19 games - 385/676 (57%) 36TDs/33INTs, 4590yds, 2 rush TDs

Gonna be fun watching him throw to 6-3 Greg Herd, 6-3 Nick Edwards, and 6-5 Brandon Kaufman.

My question is this, if this kid is so damned good, why is he leaving SMU? It's not like SMU is a FBS juggernaut. They could not beat Montana. What makes you think EWU can beat Montana? You guys spew the same tired rhetoric every season, and it never happens!

Not that I like backing up SE (eat a dick), but they did beat us in 2010...and won the NC...so it does happen. lol

I don't think we'll lose to them this year, but I bet the Eagles finish at least third in conference.

Yeah, right. Well, I wouldn't brag too much if I were you, though. Granted, final score says what it says, but do we really need to review fourth down ball placements and re-measure it four or five times, after the chains were moved to mark the next ten yards, retrive the chain crew back from their excited exuberance, in place of doing their job?..quite the fiasco, that. IMHO Kinda embarrassing, to say the least. 'Cause it was tip and tuck there in the fourth quarter on one that particular instance; if you don't mind me saying so. Surprised Delaware didn't protest the game on that. Really.

Bewildering.

It is what is, and there's no use arguing over it. That one play didn't win them the NC.

To go off on a slight tangent, I understand the importance of replay, but sometimes it hurts much more than it helps. Case in point, our 2008 game against Richmond. We were driving early in the game and Chase was tearing it up. He ran down close to the goal line, and we had a ton of momentum on our side. Then they called for a replay to get the exact spot correct, and it seemed to really mess up our flow. We didn't score, and got backed into a corner after that.

My initial reaction is:

This league is full of great QBs. This is just another.

Doesn't change my predictions at all. Ewoo will be good, maybe even very good. Montana and perhaps msu will be better.

Funny, that's pretty close to my reaction to statements like yours, especially considering the amount of starters the Griz lost.

Yeah you have to watch out everettgriz and tokyo griz are two of the most oblivious fans around. I still think they believe missoula invented football. Crazy kids, it's tough going through life with the wool pulled over your eyes all day long.

You're right, it takes a bunch of seasons with the same result to make a proper conclusion. Congrats to the mighty Griz for consistently choking in the semis or finals!  :thumb:

I've watched the replay of that 4th and 1 several times, and from the camera angles you can't really tell definitively if he got it or not. Anyone who says differently is lying, which is why I imagine more UD people weren't complaining about the call after the game. But the ruling on the field was a first down and it was reviewed on replay ad nauseum. What else do you want? I agree, it was embarassing for the officials, but is it EWU's fault they moved the chains before they called for the replay? Nope. It's easy to point to a particular call and say "oh see, they shouldn't have won", but that's just being dismissive. As someone else said, that one play didn't lose them the game. They got a possesion even after Eastern scored the go-ahead TD, and failed to move the ball. It's their own fault they lost the game - they should have put the game away in the third quarter when they were up 19-0, and they failed to do so. You don't sit on a lead and play conservatively against a big play offense, and you don't give up three straight Td's late in a game and expect to win. So I don't want to hear this BS about how the replay officials cost UD the NC. I've been told many times by Griz fans that officiating is no excuse for a loss, and UM has been the benefactor of several dubious calls in Missoula throughout the years.

As for Padron and why he's transferring, I think it's pretty evident. Why did Craig Ochs transfer to Montana? Drew Miller? Padron's too good a player to sit on the bench and obviously doesn't feel like he'd be the starter with the UT kid coming in. And with EWU's style of offense and the string of Qb's we've had, it's not difficult to see why he'd want to come in and play. I imagine that Mitchell going up to Washington and having the kind of success he did had a lot to do with it as well.

And Growler, as for your ridiculous assertion that SMU could not beat Montana, you seriously need to get a grip. That's honestly one of the dumbest things I've seen you post. Let's be objective for a minute - I highly doubt that Montana would have a winning record in Conference USA. SMU beat TCU this year....the same TCU that gave Boise State their only loss of the season. They also beat Pitt 28-6 this year in their Bowl game, and absolutely destroyed Nevada a couple years back in the Aloha Bowl (with Padron as the starting Qb). They are a pretty good FBS program that are going to the Big East next season along with Boise State.

Hey, as I stated, I think Eastern will be very good. But like always, this league runs through Missoula. Yes, replacing the D will be difficult, but UM has had to do that kind of thing repeatedly over the last 25 years, with pretty damn positive results.

I just don't think a transfer QB is going to make a marked difference.

But since you obviously posted it on our board with the clear intention for us to give you feedback about how scared and shit we all are, I do appologize for disppointing you.

EG, the Griz get to replace 10 of 11 starters on defense, a defense among the best UM has had in quite some time. They also replace their DC. They also replace 2 great tackles on the O line. I"m no Griz expert, but from what I"ve read, the above is true. When has UM had to replace this much talent in one year?

How did all those great EWU Qbs do in their first game at Washington-Griz? I rest my case. I think only Meyer won against us at the Zoo.

It is more fun to get into a pissing match with EWU since despite that horrendous maxi-pad they play on have a recent NC and often are right behind the griz unlike MSU losers who hang out on this board.

EWU is going to be 3rd place next year though sorry to pop your cherry girls.

Pretty damn well considering that Nichols' and BLM's losses were by a combined 4 points and Meyer won by 14. If it weren't for that freak circus catch by Bagley on 4th and 10, Nichols would've joined Meyer. Sufficed to say it's always a hell of a game. :thumb:

Finally official.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7662796/ex-smu-mustangs-kyle-padron-going-eastern-washington-eagles" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Padron, 6-foot-4, 233 pounds, set a Mustangs passing record in 2010 with 3,828 yards and 31 touchdowns.

J.J. McDermott took over last season, and former Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert has transferred to SMU.

"I felt comfortable with being able to pick up the system and how well the system prepares a QB to get to the next level," Padron said. "There is more responsibility the QB has there than what I'm coming from and the guys they have coming back, especially at WR are very intriguing.

"The coaches and their motivation to compete and be the best was the biggest thing for me though, because they want to win a conference/national championship as bad as I do."

Um...thanks?

I'm sure this is big news on the chicken fanboard? Does ew have a board to post to?

Best of luck in '12
