EWU 2017 Season

After taking a week to think about what kind of a team Eastern will have, and the schedule they play this year, they're definitely going to be no slouch again this year. That being said though, I don't think they will be as good as they were last year. With a new coach, and not as good receivers to throw to, Gubrud will have to get comfortable with the new receivers. So based on their schedule, here's what I think:
@Texas Tech- L
VS. NDSU- L
@Fordham-W
@ Montana-L
VS. Sacramento State-W
@UC Davis-W
VS. Montana State- W
@ Southern Utah- W
VS. Weber State- W
@ North Dakota-W
VS. Portland State-W
I thought about giving Eastern a loss to UND, but then I realized that UND is overrated. So my prediction: 8-3. What do you guys think?

They have more program stability than many are giving credit for...

I just don't see them losing 5 games. But, I hope I am wrong. :)

EWU receivers are better than you think. Yes losing Kupp and Bourne hurt but the new talent looks very sharp, arguably better than MT. Defensive backfield and D-line also look improved, not great but better. More stability in the coaching change than most people think. I say 9-2 losses at Texas Tech and NDSU

I do find it funny that people are just CERTAIN EWU is going to roll again, despite the fact they lost 3 receivers to the NFL and have almost an entirely new coaching staff, including a HC who's never been a HC before and an OC who hasn't coached the game in several years and who's last stop was as HC of a HIGH SCHOOL team.

Yes 2 of the receivers MT went after big time, Williams and Xavier. Those two lit up spring ball. We were after the right talent. They chose the wrong school :)

In the past 15 year, when has Eastern not replaced the talent at receiver? Eastern is absolutely loaded at that position this year

I do understand your coaching argument though, but eastern stayed within the family and will be physically tougher this year....

Does this mean they won't get beat again by a receiver catching a ball off of one of your players? Amazing catch!

I hear ya...we used to say the same thing. Replacing a coach like Baldwin ain't gonna be that easy. I'm just glad we catch y'all early.

The similarities between Eastern's coming season and our 2010 season are pretty striking.

Replacing arguably the most successful coach in the program's history who got called up to the FBS with an in-house guy that's never been a HC before, losing the best receiver in school history who moved on to the NFL, while still keeping a good chuck of the team from the year before, but having to deal with an entirely new way of doing things.

You guys were on here pretty hard telling us we were gonna take a step back (which we did), so it seems a little full circle.

While the other team, on the other hand, had a third year head coach with a fairly up and down first two years trying to install his system on a young team with some explosive playmakers and a new FBS transfer QB.

Holy shit...better book those Frisco tickets now, guys! :lol:

Our OC last year was also a HC of a high school team the year prior. This year he's the OC at Utah. Just sayin.

Losing 3 players to the NFL would hurt any FCS school.

They will still have the best QB in the conference tho...and that will keep them near the top of the BSC with a chance to win it.

They probably drop all their games early.

Beau Baldwins and Cooper Kupps don't just fall off trees....
