I’ll say one thing for eGrizzer’s, y’all never disappoint after a loss.

Y’all went from “Are we better than NDSU” and “should we be ranked higher than NDSU” to “we suck and we’re going to lose out”.

Y’all went from “I’m worried about the Idaho game” to “Idaho will probably beat Sac and Weber”

Y’all went from “Johnson is our savior” to “We need a new QB stat”

ONE loss and you’d think the sky was falling. Did the look like shit today? Yes they did…but holy CHRIST some of you are the most fickle fans I’ve ever seen. And you act like it’s life or death for YOU.

I swear, the silver lining of every Griz loss is reading the stupid fucking threads that are started during and after the game about how badly we suck. Stop acting like we’re 1-5, not 5-1.

Oh, and I’d just like to remind everyone of my preseason prediction: No better than quarterfinals for this team. And I’ve seen nothing to date that would make me alter that assessment. Defense has given up 0, 7, 14, 16, 20, 30 in successive games. That is NOT a good trend as offensive coordinators have figured out how to beat the frenetic rush put forth by the 3-3-5. The OFFENSE has scored 40, 22, 42, 37, 28, 23…another not so good trend as defensive coordinators have figured out how to rattle Johnson and keep him from beating them with his feet.

Baer and Rosenbach better figure some shit out quick. Other teams have made adjustments. Can we?

Today's game reminded me a lot of the Sac game last season. Offense couldn't do anything, defense just got grinded out and we lost to a team we probably should've beaten.

The frustrating thing for me is that we keep talking about taking that next step and being a true challenger to NDSU's dominance, and once again it seems like the same problems manifest that have been holding us back for years now.

You're right to call out the hyperbole from people on here, but I think this game showed that we aren't the team we thought we were, and there's a very real chance we're staring at 5-3 in two weeks.

I'm sorry if it seems like I've suddenly lost the faith, but unfortunately I have.

I'll still cheer for this team like hell though, so don't worry.

There is seriously no better reading than a gameday thread when the Griz are struggling.

There were a lot of bad takes I heard in the stands today, as well lol

 Well said AZ. I wasn't happy with the performance but it happens. I walked out of the stadium, congratulated some of the Idaho fans. As I passed through campus the next thought was the Griz mightve needed this loss more then a win today. We saw that happen to the Cats last year.
The Griz can still control their destiny, although it is an arduous task. Although the deck is stacked with several great teams ahead, I'm still a believer and think we have the team that can get it done.
On to the Pam's!

With anything shock can control emotions and it was shocking to see such a total melt down on offense today. The defense played pretty complimentary but the offense was plain bad. The process of being better every week doesn’t seem to be taking place with Montana. Watching msu< weber, and sac state they seem to iron out wrinkles and become a better football team from week to week. Montana has essential digressed into a “we don’t have a clue of what to do” spot. There is no doubt we have good talent on the field but the direction their going is surprising. You can believe me that the sac state coaching staff will watch this beat down of our offense and lick their chops. Unless we can miraculous regenerate our running game and Johnson can run some play action(I have no idea what happened to the RPO) we will be returning home at 6am Sunday 5-2 with a huge road trip to Ogden. IMO this falls directly on the offensive coordinator and the head coach. I wouldn’t doubt that if this trend continues at the end of the season we may be looking at something different.

The observation around the defense is exactly right. The offense was largely awful, so they left the defense on the field way too long. The defense isn't perfect, but it would have been a 55 burger without some exceptional play by the usual suspects. Yeah - and big sky refs are gonna big sky ref. The offense has been incredibly bland recently, too much of a reliance on Roberts making the big catch, hoping Johnson can consistently throw a catchable ball, running behind a line that sometimes plays well and sometimes not, manufacturing their explosives with gadget plays, and having the specials that were the difference makers in most games, now being suspect. How do. you get extra points blocked with regularity?

They knew some of what Idaho was planning - to shorten the game by possessing the ball. And they did just that, but it wasn't because they leaned on their running game, (like the first few BSC games) like they expected. It was a clinic on the west coast passing game, the offense the 49er's won all those super bowls. Pasing game on timing, with a good QB, short outs, passing to the TE, shots downfield, running when they could, moving the chains, huddling and holding onto the ball. And while the pass rush is normally spectacular, the Spuds patchwork o-line - they haven't started the same five in the same spots at any point this season, seemed to hold up pretty well.

Bobby likely called it like it is - it was his fault. The onsides kick rubbed it in his face and was the turning point in what was administered yesterday. He's made it a point to say they played some good teams. And while IN/State threw a scare into UNDSU, they're still 1-5, SD is 1-5, PSU is 2-4 with a win over an NAIA school, and Spudstate won their first game last week. No, not so much. It doesn't matter what happened yesterday, if they aren't willing to stop worrying about justifying the ranking and actually come out firing. Barring a catastrophy, I think the spuds are a playoff team, with a seed. Let that soak in. The Montana defense isn't going to save them, not with what's ahead. Hopefully Hauck understands that. Or it's going to be his most disappointing year.

Good post. And great point about the “gadget plays”.

Bobby needs to take a long look in his mirror. And start by making adjustments to how our defensive backs play (specifically the safeties). It baffles me how, in a defense specially set up to stop the passing game, we get torched so frequently. I’ve never seen a game where more opposing receivers were running free with no one within 7-10 yards of them. Christ I think I could have made those throws. How is it with FIVE defensive backs in the game literally every play that we can still have WRs’ so wide open?

on TV the Idaho coach Eck said " we wanted to force the (Montana) quarterback to try to beat us.
