Thats good! I really am a griz basketball fan! And I really don't care who plays for them-though I would like to see as many Montana kids as possible on their roster.

Pete, I really hope you didn't get the idea that your the only person who doesn't want as many Montana recruits as possible.

If there were enough Montana players that could help Montana compete against any Mid-major division 1 team and win, I would say go for it.

But there never has been enough. Just like investments in stocks and mutual funds, you have to diversify.

But right now, Griz have the players to compete against Mid-majors. Beating them is the problem, so they aren't there yet. Maybe Sentinel's Jordan Hasquet will help.

i also agree that montana kids need to be on the team, what I don't agree with is the fact that people won't watch the Griz because they are not all from Montana. It is the Griz, lets go support them!

egriz, you missed the point of my original post-there appears to be very liitle effort by this coaching staff to get the best Montana kids-U of M basketball will never get the statewide following until they get kids from different parts of the state-you could argue all you want about YO and a lot of great players from out of state, but the fact is, people come from all over Montana to watch Griz football because they are connected to the in- state kids the same way people have connected to the lady Griz. Are we to believe that the reason the Lady Griz have dominated the BSC and have competed successfully on the national level is because our female players are so much better than players from other states, or could it be that they have pride in being a Lady Griz that has been instilled over their whole life?

that is true, think about how many people would be at the game if Chavez was playing.

I agree! I think there was something like 8000 people at his games during the class c state tournament. People from all over Montana came to watch him play. Hopefully he can come back.

I guess I made it just a little too believable :D

the whole point was to show that people besides "Montana boys" can do some good stuff and that you should support them as you all support eGriz.com

The basketball teams are great, now show them that you appreciate what they do. The players on the team have nothing to do with who is recruited. If you don't like the way the coaches are building the team, then don't support them, go support the players that work their asses off to represent the University. They deserve our support!!
