Dumb question

Never have been able to figure out the "zoo" thing, when "soul" is part of Missoula's name. Why not "soul town"?

I thought Detroit had that title, back when the music was great.

I believe it was "Motown," which may have been the name of the local record co.

Long before the record label, it was short for "The Motor City."

Honestly, I never heard Missoula referred to as Zoo Town until the last 5 years of so.
Maybe it was more of a title Montanans used outside of Missoula. I just called it home. Ha.
