Downs/Burgess

It looks like both Micah Downs and David Burgess are shooting for Dec. 30th as a return date: The Battle in Seattle. I think Micah will bring another outside threat to the team. Burgess may not contribute right off the bat, but he's another big body down low @ 6'11'' 270lbs.-good for foul trouble games. I can't wait to see what the Zags can do with 50% of their injured players back! (Gurganious & Davis still out).

Rains threes, baby!! :thumb:

Oh yeah, UW does have an incredible freshman. I said Seattle, not Spookane, baybeeeee :thumb:

Now I'm confused:

You said you heard it rains in Seattle
I said, yeah, it rains threes
The battle in Seatlle is played in Seattle
The battle in Seattle doesn't include UW, but does include GU
You refer to UW's incedible freshman

Hmmmm.......

Didn't Micah Downs play for roughly 17 different high schools? I think he even played a year in Butte, MT, too.

The whole point was to confuse you, didn't realize how easy it would be. Good thing you don't coach the Zags. :thumb:

I think Few would love a few days off. You should try to give him a vacation and take over for a few games CDA.

Then, once again, you have outdone me with your amazing intellect and (apparently) intentional non sequitur.

I have heard so much about this Downs character. I hope he is half as good as I hear he is.

I think he'll be a solid contributor. I've heard some rumblings about an attitude, but anyone who plays for Few is usually cured of that pretty fast.

Yeah we're not known for having any trouble makers.

... or leaves

.... and Downs is very good at leaving programs when things do not go his way!

Downs will end up leaving. I watched several sessions at Gonzaga over the summer and all he did was pout. The other players did not like his attitude then and won't later on when he doesn't play as much as he should. Mark it down, he won't last.

I'm afraid I see the same future as you loyalgriz. Hopefully he can give us a few threes when we need them the most though.

I have to echo that sentiment. I don't think Downs will last. Bizzell, yes he did play a year in Butte and just like every other program when something didn't go his way, he split. If he couldn't play for Bill Self who can he play for? It's too bad I watched him play in the McDonalds game and his college career looked promising. He shoulda transferred to Texas Tech!

He should have transfered to a program where he would have been the questionable star, possibly Washington State or the like. Unfortunately then his team would not be as good as he felt they should be with him. There lies his problem he wants to be a one man team that carries the team to a championship. In this day and age it does not happen. if you want to be win championship you need a team of stars who are willing togive it up sometimes.

I hate to say it, but....

Case in point: GU last year. As good as AMMO was, he couldn't do it on his own when it mattered.

any program going after Downs after the Mcdonalds all american game should have been gnashing their teeth. I don't remember what his stat line was, but I vaguely recall he made some questionable comments after the game. I don't remember the quote verbatim but the crux of it was he didn't play that game to be second fiddle, was upset he didn't start and didn't get enough shots. the guys self-centered, and if Few can't get him to change his mental approach he'll be a locker room cancer the likes of Jeff Kent
