Pretty low class thing to do on Montana fans' part

Don't have to worry about that happening at an NAU game, eh Jon? All 658 fans in attendance get mid-court seats.

Montana was particularly tough on its home floor this season, defeating Weber State twice and mid-major powers Long Beach State and Nevada. The good news for its future NCAA tournament opponent is it will face the Grizzlies on a neutral court, which probably means it will get to shoot on a stationary basket.

The Griz lost to Nevada. One of two losses at home early in the season, and ending the season 16-2 at home. Maybe we can get enough fan's to go to the first round game and "shake that basket!" :P

I may be in the minority, but I thought it was awesome. People are constantly whining about bringing back the zoo (who btw threw potatoes at opposing players), yet are upset about rowdy students shaking the basket? Puh-leez. No harm came of it, it's not like they started shaking it as the shot was in the air. The officials stopped play, and handled it, nothing else came of it.

agreed...I thought it was funny as hell, how often do you see that on ESPN....at the game, I thought someone was flashing a cell phone in his eyes, which would've been a very poor showing, but shaking the basket is just so damned original, I thought it was great.

My thoughts exactly stubs! :thumb: :shocker:

the shaking basket was the least of Weber worries at that point, the shaky shooting, passes out of bounds and a general meltdown was already well underway

Funny...original...great...awesome...no harm...that is until it happens to the Griz?

It did nothing to affect the outcome of the game as Weber was dead in the water already. But it was a bush league action on part of a few arseholes in your student section. Fans/students who do that in most other settings (pro or BCS schools) will get shown the door with no hesitation. The ref must have been feeling warm-hearted.

That being said, the crowd brought the noise. Happy to see Griz fans show up for hoops like they do for football.

Nope..if it happens to the Griz in the future, it won't be original or funny. It'll be an old and outdated attempt to copy everything Griz....

I talked to the guy standing next to the "shaker." He said the idiot stumbled in extremely wasted about 5 minutes before the event occurred. So it wasn't really a Griz fan, just a drunk idiot.

Chill dude. An official can't exile a patron if he does not know who shook the basket. No big deal.

No, but an official can assess the home team a technical foul in that situation...and could insist part of the section behind the basket be cleared to keep it from happening again.

Does that mean Griz fans never get drunk and come to a game? Just askin...be real, please.

Please, this guy was wayy to drunk and he hadn't been there for the entire game. So we get plastered as fans on national media because of one drunk idiot who probably had no idea where he was. Yup, guess all Montana fans are like that.
