Great article on him in the Missoulian, and his fight back to be healthy and play again! A strong young man! Have a great season Donaven!

Here is the link to the story about Donaven:

If the article is correct, the medical hardship request does not come until after the season. This sustained uncertainty sure doesn't make recruiting any simpler.

Correct, you cant get a hardship until you exhaust your playing time. It will be difficult on our scholarship situation as we will have to hold a spot just in case

I’d guess it’s a risk Coach will be more then happy to take. Love that he was there with Dorsey for his doc visits. Unfortunately there’s too many coaches out there that wouldn’t be there for their players like he and most of Montana’s coaches would be. With as many Sr’s that we have this year too, we’ve got some extra schollies to play with.

and the advantage of a player on academic scholarship

I'd be highly disappointed if he doesn't qualify for a hardship waiver. I'm really proud of Donavan for sticking with basketball, and hope he has a great year. I can't wait to see him on the court tonight. Kudos to the coaching staff for being their by his side.

we also forget about the actual person in the player. Does Dorsey even want another year of playing? he should be done with his degree. I know its hard for some to believe but the point of "moving on from sports" comes at different times for all people. The griz would sure benefit from him playing another year, but I also hope he makes the decision for himself.

I 100% agree with you. For whatever it’s worth he introduced himself to the students the other night as a junior, so from that it at least sounds like he’s planning on being around for another year.

Did you even read the article?

"Dorsey will try for a medical waiver after the season is over to get a sixth year of eligibility. But after everything he’s been through over the past year, the sole focus is the here and now and appreciating each moment."

Yea I did you dip shit. Just because he says he will try for a medical waiver after the season is over....does not mean that is how he will feel in the spring. the article should read: Dorsey currently plans on attempting for a medical waiver at the end of the season."the sole focus is here and now" what if in the spring he had a decent year and decides...man I think the basketball this was awesome but I'm ready to move on. College kids change their mind on things by the hour...even big choices. what if he gets hurt? what if he doesn't have a good year? maybe that's enough to say..."I'm good" I'm going to focus on a job and a career.

God forbid you can put down your fandom for 2 seconds to understand that basketball is a small portion of these young lives and at the end of the day. probably the same sad type individual who gets mad when a player transfers or leaves thinking "how could they do this to US" fans are so ignorant to players real lives...and athletes joke and talk about it ALL the time.

Hey shithead, I understand all that, but based on what he stated, I don't know why you posted " Does Dorsey even want another year of playing? he should be done with his degree." It would seem that currently he does want another year. What a freaking retard. I was not making it my opinion, it was based on what he actually said.
