Throughout this game, I noticed several plays where Sac. St. players cheap-shotted our players. The first of these came on the first drive of the second quarter. As some of you may recall LJ rolled out to his right and threw the ball. About 1/2 seconds after the ball left his hands #46 hit LJ with the crown of his helmet and knocked him to the ground. I would not call this a late hit but I believe it was targeting, once again the refs missed this (The refs can't catch everything so I don't blame them for missing it.). Then the hit that everyone remembers is when #46 once again came in and lead with the crown of his helmet and lunged at LJ's head, this time 3/4 seconds after the ball had left his hands and while being wrapped up by 2 of his teammates. He was then ejected after the refs caught his second targeting attempt. The next dirty play I recall seeing was when Mitch Roberts was targeted on a pass and it sailed over his head. Once he was about 5 yards out of bounds a Sac. St. player pushed him down into the kicker's net. This probably should have been 15 yards for us and "the first strike" for that Sac. St. player. The 4th dirty play I saw was the punt return in which Junior Bergan called for a fair catch and caught the ball. We then saw the Sac. St. player come in and try to rip the ball out of his hands which was an illegal action. Absolutely no reason why contact should have been made, and this resulted in an injury for Bergen. I suspect this was a broken finger or wrist, but I am hoping he heals fast and that it is not too serious. I wanted to call attention to this because I noticed a lot more obvious dirty plays and cheap shots than normal.
