Did Growler Have it Right?

Amazing what has transpired on this board in the last 36 hrs. I have witnessed some of the worse display of behavior I have seen, even for an anonymous message board. Our infamous Growler consistently has gotten banned for a lot less that what is currently happening. Attacks against coaches, players and other posters - all by individuals who think they are tough when sucking down their beers, and reliving their adolescent years.

But DID GROWLER HAVE IT RIGHT? If you recall early in the year, and through the summer he pointed out a number of weaknesses with this team, from the O-line to the QB play, to the defensive backs. He was ridiculed, scorned and laughed at by the majority of the posters here, many of whom are posting the same bs now.

I have no issues with Growler, because he did post football items unlike many of the current trolls who simply post for attention. Perhaps he will return, perhaps not - but IMO he was months ahead of 90% of all of us.

Some Cat fans tried to tell you too, because we were going through a very similar team scheme/structure problem.

More than anybody would want to admit.....

It was more difficult to see that at the start of the year as most teams, historically particularly UM, progress and develop during the year. This one regressed; there was little noticeable player growth and development. Disarray and confusion replaced winning football week by week. Talent level or coaching? Probably both.

Boards like this aren't about truth. Even though people might agree with a naysayer they are afraid to post it. Look no further than the prediction threads Put money on the predictions and reality sets in

The kids got tired of playing for this coach. They have no confidence in his playcalling whatsoever. They don't like his constant belittling. However, despite Wahlberg's befuddlement, the "stats" show a team with plenty of talent. How does a team rack of superior "everything" game after game over opponents, but begin the streak of consistently losing to those same opponents?

The kids are obviously capable of moving the ball better than anybody in the conference. Remarkably, they continued to do so even with the coach publicly bitching them out for their "lack of fire." Notice after his public whining how they lost all enthusiasm for being on the field?

When a coach loses a team, there's not a technical solution for it, nor will changing personnel or getting a new QB next year change that.

Did you talk to all the kids or is this your opinion?

Do you watch Griz games?

As a matter of fact, I sat down with a bunch of them 5-6 weeks ago. Eye-opener considering we were coming off two "good" games.

Fair enough, opinion based on watching games and sitting down with a bunch, however many that is.

The question I have is, does Haslam have any kind of "exit interview" procedure in place with this years seniors who NOW can be very candid. I would have to agree that Stitt has in his appearances I have been at and to a LESSER degree in his pressers (and its bad there) exhibited a severe case of "small mans disease" if in fact that is passed on to the team and especially his staff, its not going to be easily fixed in the off season or by recruiting.

I don't think Haslam does exit interviews with graduating seniors individually but I would presume if they wanted to talk to him about concerns they easily could.

It would not be Haslam's style to go around his coaches to the players no more than he would like his coaches to go around him to his boss.

No I don't think so, but if the players felt they needed to talk to him I know he'd listen.

It is a given that their is/was dissension on the team. Issue is who caused it and how is it resolved? If Stitt will not look at this, then AD should!
