Damn it! Anybody here know if Murdoch's is cool about accepting returns w/o a receipt? I've got a f*ck-ton of pitchforks and at least twelve gallons of torch fuel (non-citronella) that all-of-a-sudden seem unnecessary...

You might considering hanging onto that stuff. You'll make a KILLING selling it to cat fans in November as they run Ron Ash out of town.

Keep everything in a storage shed close to campus. At least one Griz performance this year will cause mob rule to occur. They'll be looking for RE and they'll pay top dollar for those supplies.

Shit. I'm sorry, guys.

Those of us who saw DD in his first game rally the team from 30 back in just one half knew this was no ordinary QB. You could tell he knew what the defense was doing on every play and he executed on virtually every play. I saw it referenced earlier, but what stood out most to me was he rarely played more than 1 series in the second half. Convert his game stats and everyone else's to stats per minute played and nobody would touch him in any category. And how many QB's ever hung 70 pts on playoff defenses, yet he did it twice in the same year.
Actually, he did it but once; SFA '95 semis in Missoula 12/9/95. Montana 70; SFA 14.

You're right, Troy was in '96. The memories start to meld.....

I am no good at digging up stats, but, I would guess that the Grizzlies 95 playoff run to the NC would be at or near the top of the list in the points for/points against category. There were some serious beatdowns on that run!

In a lot of ways its been sort of down hill since those days.........

If DD is number 1, that pretty much invalidates the list. It may make some Griz fans happy but as good as he was, I'm not even certain he belongs in the top 50 all time BSC list when you consider all the possibilities

Well would you look at that! #1 on the list! Go eat some crow, tnt...

Hate to burst a bubble, but I'm 99.9% certain he was trolling.

I doubt it. He's proven to be an idiot on multiple occasions.

Great Choice! 95 was my first season of Griz football. Needless to say it hooked me!!
Montana 54; Boise State 28. 1-AA NC. Says it all.

Yup that was a memorable beat down! I also remember the way we destroyed the foe in our 3 playoff games. It was a great year to be around WA Griz!!

Something I learned from reading the clips attached to Brint's first post....the Jackson State game in '89 was the first playoff game in Wa/Griz....and I was THERE! I flew into town from Albany, NY for Thanksgiving weekend and went to the playoff game with my dad....had no idea I was witnessing history. Cool...

Jackson State scored first and had an awesome middle linebacker who spent time in the NFL but outcoached by Pappa Bear.

That Boise game was the first Game I ever went to At WA GRIZ. EPIC! I was hooked on GRIZ forever after that
That was a great game, but not the best I have seen. Pokey Allen stated after that game he would never bring BSU back to Montana again.
If I am recalling correctly, that was Homecoming weekend, and one of the Griz groups during the Homecoming Parade did the "Hokey Pokey" all the way down Higgins in Pokey Allen's "honor." Not a great day for him.

Right you are. Indeed it was homecoming

Nice article on our two stud athletes.

I went to basic training, infantry at Fort Lewis, WA and Pokey was in our platoon. What a good man, Missoula native, and stood out as a leader-type person. I remember talking with him after that Homecoming beating. Didn't seem to be happy to be in Missoula! He died much too young of cancer. Always remember him as one of the good guys.

DD truly is worthy of the #1 rating. I watched him all through high school, and you knew he was someone special. Coach Jack Johnson knew, players like that come along rarely. Another plus is his family….good folks all around.
