Dhouly should start

From what I have seen the past couple games Matt Dhouly should be a starter for the Griz.

I have really been impressed with the energy that he has brought off the bench. He has lived up to his "ball hawk" reputation on defense that comes from the way he plays teh passing lanes.

He is an underated shooter from teh outside.

Most of all, the guy plays with a little intensity and isnt afraid to get into it wth the other team.

HE NEEDS TO BE MORE CONSISTENT AND GIVE A SOLID PERFORMENCE EVERY NIGHT INSTEAD OF 2-3 NIGHTS!!!!!

Dhouly's endorsment is coming from a guy who gave a somewhat harsh evauluation earlier in teh year of him but I think that it is time that this guy starts getting a lot of minutes in a starting role.

I am not sold on Farr or Straight at all.

I like Strait, for a true freshman I think he does a really good job. As for comparing Dhouly and Strait, they are completly different type players, Dhouly is more of an outside threat and slasher, Strait right now looks more like an inside type player, it is comparing a sf with a pf.

I think Strait is a consistent inside scorer. He's not a force inside, but he gets buckets. He's not going to become the star of this team, but I like having him in the game because he does a good job of finishing. I agree with your sentiments about Lamar Farr.

Dlouhy has been great for us when he's good. I like him off the bench, but I'm starting to think we're better with him than Farr. I want to see how he starts a game before I form any opinions.

Dlouhy started two games this year. The found they did not have anybody else provide a spark off the bench like Dlouhy did, thus his role was to come off the bench.

Strait is one of the most improved players on the team, but he is still a freshman. I expect him to be a very good player and a leader for this team in his next 3 years. This guy works hard to improve every aspect of his game and is a reason why he is getting more minutes each game. Plus, I knew it was only a matter of time until he gets a start like he did against the Cats. But, he really needs to work on his free throws. But, he has been increasing his scoring production each week on average, and is the second best rebounder on the team just behind Kamaar Davis. He has scored in double figures in 4 out of the last 6 games. Strait also shoots for a very good percentage from the field at .534 (he has the fourth most field goal attempts on the team).

I have to ditto just about all I said about Martin, except this guy does play a little out of control. But, when I compare him from beginning of season, and how he is playing now, he isn't nearly as bad now. He may make bad decisions now and then, but his turnovers each game has declined quite a bit. His average turnover per game is 3. But, early this season, he has been turning it over more than 5 times, some games almost up to 10 times.

I really can't say as much for the two JC recruits, Farr and Matthews. Neither of them have improved like Martin and Strait.

:o Dlouhy could start but it works better to bring him off the bench after some energy has been expended on the floor so that when he tears around that he will be effective. He is fun to watch when he gets out of control but he needs to get that energy aimed at the basket. He should be able to improve at the line. Strait gets better and better and Martin got better and then has been slowed by the ankle which got better quick but does not appear to be solid as of Saturday nite. Criswell does a lot of things and requires a lot of attention from the opposition. :o

You don't necessarily start your best five guys and I agree with Krysko on this one. Matt brings good energy off the bench and plays a lot of minutes. It's not who starts the game, but who finishes.

loyal says u dont always start the best guys...well as kamar is just returning, matt is one of the top three players on the hole griz team..u dont always start the best five but at least start ur best three...he brings a good all around game to the court every night along with his intense energy...flat out...matt should start...and should have been starting.
