Delany's chances of keepig his job?

It's his if he wants it, or unless some very convenient good opportunity were to fall into place, is my view. He's going to be 9-3 or 10-2, and be in the playoffs. Why would it be time to move on?

like i said i really like coach but not his coaching.. his staff is not bad but he is too nice. he needs to hold the boys more accountable for mistakes like missed tackles. they should at least do tackling drills at practice. and has anyone else noticed that we have reached the quarterback several times but he's slipped through there grasps. just my opinion though.

He does hold them accountable. He's nice to adults/fans, but he's sort of a hardass. They do work on tackling, but it's hard to do full on tackling drills at this point of the season, without having full contact at most practices. Also, tackling between cones is not exactly all that tackling is about.

I understand we get frustrated at times as fans, but for christ's sake Delaney was 5-6 last year and this year so far the Griz are 8-2, I don't think you can get rid of a coach when the record shows big improvement.

so what are the chances? nothing against coach and staff but i really think we need to move on..

As of right now, his to keep if he wants it. And, to tell you the truth, if Griz have same improvement year over year as they had this year over last - that's OK with me. I find some of the coaching decisions really frustrating, but I found coaching decisions during BH's reign equally frustrating. Getting really tired of people ragging on the guy for his age.

I hope he stays so next season when JJ, Ellis and Travon win a NC for him we can go back and laugh at all these get rid of Delaney threads/posts. He is a nice guy, like PR said, but to say he doesn't hold players accountable is silly.

I will bet you a 12 pack of bud Delaney doesn't sniff the nc....also, I hope he stays until after jj is gone and we can see what the griz really have.

Hey Stubbs I can dream can't I? All my 2001 National Championship Griz wear is getting sorta tattered. Good point though it will be interesting what the team looks like without JJ. I'll pass on the bet, but I'll give you a beer for free at the tailgates sometime. :thumb:

Haslem was asked about this at halftime of the game and didn't give a definitive answer.said they would evaluate the coaching situation at the end of the season.

Good enough! I'm in...

Chance he has the job next year: 100%. Fellas the "problems" ain't all coaching. MD has restored order on And off the field. The Griz are playoff bound. Recruiting will regain momentum. We will be fine next year.

I'm always out at Hammer's tailgate, if you can withstand the hike. Rumor is there might be some Fireball in attendance. I'll definetly have some Bud on hand.

Are there coaching issues? Yes there are. The fact is, it does not matter what any of us think or want. The decision is with Delaney, and the powers to be. I look back at last season. The coaching and team are better. So the staff is making progress with the program.

Despite us complaining about the offense, offensive line problems, and questionable play calling for most the season, the offense has damn good results. Special teams play is a complete turnaround. I think Coach Brunelle deserves much praise for that. Delaney made that hire. So that was a move for the better.

Our Defense is so talented, yet inconsistent. Despite that, the pass defense is a little better than last year, and the mental break downs are not as frequent. I do agree pass defense and defense have to improve further to better this team. The changes they need to make are with personnel and strategy. The encouraging part , Coach Gregorak has held himself accountable, and addressing the problems head on. He is not hiding from the defensive issues. I have to give him credit for that much. That is the start to improvement. I did personally see a lot of positives in improvement against USD.

As much as I complain and find it hard to get behind this staff, looking at this objectively, it is hard for me to 100% justify a new start after this season. Making the playoffs, and how they perform in the playoffs will help me be more decisive either way. Breaking it down the best I can right now, I think it is more logical to keep Delaney on board, at worse through JJ's Sr year. As of right now, the 2014 season is looking damn promising in terms of talent.

The GRIZ have bigger DB's who redshirted this season, and the DB's who played this season will have more experience. The DL will be in good shape too. We lose a ton at LB, so that will be a crap shoot going into next season. I am not as worried about that. Gregorak is very good at coaching LB's though. Speaking of which, he will have another year under his belt too. That is a sign of better things to come from the defense.

I feel it would be detrimental making a coaching change prior to 2014. That is my objective point of few here. If it were about my personal expectations as a GRIZ fan, and personal preferences, then I would be for change after this season. Unless a too good to be true coaching forerunner comes into play after this season, I am on the side to keep Delaney aboard. Sorry, just being realistic here.
