Delaney may want to toss "Interim" tag

I hope Delaney can make drastic improved impact on one thing. Please improve our short yardage results. As much as I loved the 2011 team/season, that drove me insane all season.

More Moore!!

Stating the obvious, but you are so right on that one. :thumb:

more importantly the part of their brain that makes decisions (good or bad) isn't fully developed yet (generally not until they are 25 or so.)

How else do you think they're able to convince 19-year-old marines to run into a hail of gunfire? :o

You may be amazed at the wisdom possessed by that young Marine (please capitalize it, it is a title not easily earned). Physiology is much more dependent on age than cognition, and conditioned response isn't at all. Much of football is recognition and trained response (not unlike advancing into gunfire). An effective coach knows how to teach players this skill. I think he has proven that he can do that, and if he shows shows his assistants how to reach the players we'll be fine. Claiborne from LSU scored somewhere near short bus on his wonderlic but his read/react skills are insane. I hope our current batch of assistants step up and do their part and MD doesn't handcuff them. I hated hearing how BH stifled Phen and Pflu stifled Smith. Maybe his age will allow his staff to take more responsibility and we can see what we really have.

22 years as a Naval Officer. Spent plenty of time around 19-21 year-old Marines....much respect. :thumb:

I had a good opportunity to watch Coach Delaney in action at the night scrimmage. I saw him hug the young lady with the walkie talkie that seemed to be organizing the event as she was directing him after the half time. He appeared to have no ego and was very respectful of her and everyone around him. I also saw him chew out one of his star RB for not wearing his helmet off the field. He just seemed to be an honorable man that showed respect to others but made demands of his players as well. I was very impressed.

Mic looked to be a man that was thoroughly enjoying himself. And what a motivation it must be to think that he could become the permanent coach of the Griz if he and the staff have a good season. I wish him nothing but the best. His success as the interim coach would be a huge success for the Griz program.

So Mic is a recovering alcoholic? If so, i personally think that makes him specially qualified for our need. The best role models are ones you can relate to.

"Delaney likened his attitude toward those bumps to his three-decade membership in Alcoholics Anonymous, with its 'one-day-at-a-time' mantra."
