Defense wins championships.

Probably the best two defenses in the playoffs were playing last night. If Furman had ANY kind of an offense they’d have won that game.

An excellent defense can make a mediocre QB look really bad and that is what happened. Aside from one big play, couldn’t run, and when pressured, couldn’t pass. And in reality, McDowell did not look much better.

I wouldn’t discount any of the guys for their effort last night. Those guys were difference makers but that was a team win. Give junior credit for his elusiveness but those guys did a hell of a job blocking up the kickoff and punt returns and should get credit. There easily could have been an opportunity for a clip or hold on that punt return especially and the guys were all smart.

I did not mean to discount the supporting cast but with that same blocking, there aren’t a lot of returners that would have done what Bergen did. He is special, up there with Mariani as a returner.
